Our role on the Bass Strait Island is a bit different to mainland Tassie. On both Islands, we not only generate energy, but also distribute electricity and manage customer connections through our retailer, Momentum Energy. Community is at the heart of King and Flinders Islands, and we love being a part of that.   King Island, which is not connected to the Tasmanian electricity grid, previously relied heavily on diesel-generated energy. Beginning in 2010, with the help of the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), our teams lead the King Island Renewable Energy Integration Project. The power system was world-leading, and combined a mix of unique technologies, including wind, solar, bio-diesel, battery storage, a smart grid system… the list goes on.   The system is capable of supplying 65% of King Island's energy needs, and multi-day 100% renewable operation - the first megawatt class off-grid system with this capability in the world! ⚡ More information on the project can be found at https://lnkd.in/gYRT89rm   #RenewableInnovation #RenewableEnergyTransition #HydroTasmania #Tasmania 

Winergy is known as one of the pioneers of the wind energy industry. And now, for the first time, we are also sourcing our own renewable energy straight from wind turbines equipped with our Winergy gearboxes. In a pioneering initiative with ECO2GROW, an innovative player in the field of renewable energies, we have concluded several Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for the direct purchase of green electricity from wind and solar plants. The selected wind farm in southern Germany runs with our Winergy gearboxes. The partnership is another decisive step in our sustainability strategy and supports our goal of being CO2-neutral by 2030. By using renewable energy from German wind and photovoltaic plants, we are saving 7,500 tons of CO2 and cover approximately 12% of our electricity requirements for our German sites. Octopus Energy has announced a series of plunge pricing events whereby drivers using its Electroverse tariff will get discounted or even free recharging when the supply on the grid exceeds demand. With Octopus being one of the few suppliers using 100% renewable energy, this will mean in times of low grid demand but high sunshine or stiff winds driving up renewable energy production, the company will sell off cheaply or even give away charging energy to its customers. Comments Ali Khan, Head of Vestel Mobility in the UK, “Grid balancing has always been a challenge with nationwide electricity production, but Octopus’ innovative scheme uses surplus renewable energy to benefit electric vehicle drivers directly. We would like to highlight the significance of wind energy generation and its potential to revolutionize energy generation, distribution, and consumption. Wind energy stands out for its sustainability profile, associated with clean energy, and its ability to boost the global economy and create new jobs. Cabeolica is a leader in renewable energy in Cape Verde, with its four wind farms in Santiago, São Vicente, Sal, and Boa Vista. Our operations represent about 18% of the electricity generated across the islands. Cabeolica’s expansion project starting in 2025, will increase the energy penetration rate by Cabeolica to the national grid to 30%, in addition to supporting the achievement of the country's energy transition goals. Last week EWE Neue Energien participated in the largest wind energy conference in the Baltics – Windworks. It was important to meet relevant stakeholders of the industry and also share our insights, where the industry in the Baltics will move forward. Our Country manager in Latvia Artūrs Toms Plešs participated together with Anders Widman, Head of Nordic and Baltics and Nicolai Kyhn Bak Jørgensen, graduate at Eurowind Energy.
