💡 “We are here to get on with the job of redesigning energy for people and planet." So said the World Energy Council’s Angela Wilkinson during the 26th World Energy Congress in Rotterdam last month. 🌍 With over 350 C-suite speakers, 70 Ministers, 15 city mayors and nearly 4,000 energy stakeholders in attendance, the Congress was buzzing with energy, discussions and decision-making for a sustainable future. Over 60 impactful sessions took place while 90 exhibitors showcased the latest innovations in energy technology. 💬 For #SET, day 2 was particularly exciting as our director, Pia Dorfinger, moderated the panel discussion, "𝘐𝘕𝘕𝘖𝘝𝘈𝘛𝘌 𝘛𝘖 𝘌𝘓𝘌𝘝𝘈𝘛𝘌: 𝘊𝘜𝘓𝘛𝘐𝘝𝘈𝘛𝘐𝘕𝘎 𝘌𝘕𝘛𝘙𝘌𝘗𝘙𝘌𝘕𝘌𝘜𝘙𝘚𝘏𝘐𝘗". Our session addressed pressing issues around the collaboration of industry and startups, integrating new technologies, and accelerating testing and deployment processes. 🔋 If you missed it, check out the energy and atmosphere with the video recap, below. The next chapter, though, begins now, as we prepare for the 27th World Energy Congress in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. EGATEC 2024 & North Sea Power House 2nd day of the Egatec conference in Hamburg ended with a highlight: A sharp analysis on economic and regulatory development by representatives from the European Commission, IEA (represented by Dennis Hesseling) and Hydrogen Europe (represented by Jorgo Chatzimarkakis) - moderated by DVGW (Gerald Linke). * Europe should not curtail H2 production artificially by discriminating certain H2 production technologies. * We need more investment into grid infrastructure as the H2-grid is also the enabler of a further growth of renewables. * H2 is the gamechanger that will restructure the international energy trade. Europe has to be quick to stay within the race.

The keynote address by Dr Nikolai Kinaev from CSIRO (Australia), titled "Hydrogen Energy Technologies and Their Future Perspectives," provided a fascinating glimpse into the potential of this clean energy source. Dr Kinaev explored the various hydrogen production technologies, from electrolysis powered by renewables to methane reforming with carbon capture. The discussion highlighted the exciting applications of hydrogen across different sectors, including transportation, industry, and even building heating. It was particularly interesting to learn about the potential for hydrogen to decarbonize hard-to-abate industries like steel production. Watch the full lecture at - https://lnkd.in/g6xX583i

Our recent visit at the European Energy Exchange (EEX) highlighted the evolving landscape of energy trading, emphasizing the integral role of machine learning in fostering efficient, sustainable energy solutions. #EnergyTransition #MachineLearning #RenewableEnergy #EEX #4cast #SustainableFuture
Insight, inspiration and future-oriented dialogues Yesterday we at 4cast had the opportunity to visit the EEX Group in Leipzig – an important appointment for our team. For me, the exchange on this platform is the core of our mission: networked, informed and future-oriented action in the area of renewable energies and sustainability. The agenda of the specialist lecture covered a wide spectrum – from current market developments to the historical origins of the stock exchange to the mechanisms of order book trading and the trade registration service. These topics not only provide important specialist knowledge, but also open up perspectives for innovative solutions. Our visit to EEX Group gave us deeper insights into the market dynamics and framework conditions that are essential when working with renewable energies. This will help us further expand and optimize the path for wind and solar power. It strengthens us in our commitment to actively participate in the energy transition and to provide pioneering impulses for the design of a sustainable energy infrastructure. #EEXLeipzig #EnergyTransition #Sustainability #EnergyInnovation #IndustryCooperation #4cast

An excellent result in the development of power transmission over very long distances, which once again demonstrates the maturity of HVDC technology for increasingly ambitious projects. For Italy, this is one more credit to spend on cutting emissions from industrial and domestic heat production and reducing not only emissions, but also particulate pollution. Have a look on the air quality in the Po Valley from any dedicated app (on my iPhone, the weather forecasts are terrific for this), where this ambitious project should land. We need to decarbonise whatever we can, from heating to cars, and quickly.
We're pleased to announce a groundbreaking project by K&K, CESI, Prysmian Group, and Siemens Energy: an electric corridor to transport green electricity from Egypt to Italy. This marks a pivotal collaboration among industry leaders, now moving into an advanced phase following a successful feasibility study. With a 3 GW capacity, this corridor is set to meet around 5% of Italy's peak electricity demand, aligning with Europe's carbon neutrality goals for 2050. It features a pioneering 2,800 km submarine HVDC cable, connecting Egypt's West Sohag to Italy's Dolo Substation, demonstrating our commitment to sustainable energy. Domenico Villani, CEO of CESI Group, emphasizes the project's groundbreaking nature: "This is the first HVDC connection between the Eastern Mediterranean and Europe, potentially extending to create an energy corridor from Europe to the Gulf. It leverages existing and planned regional interconnections, many of which CESI has actively supported."
