The EU has committed to reaching #climateneutrality by 2050 To reach this objective and limit #climatechange there is a need to compensate for residual emissions that cannot be eliminated. There is a need for #carbonremovals Yesterday, Stockholm Exergi hosted Bioenergy Europe's Working Group on #CarbonRemovals #CDR Bioenergy Europe members had the chance to see the development of a #bioenergy with #carboncapture and storage facility #BECCS Biogenic carbon removals like #BECCS and #biochar are the only ones that capture CO2 while also producing energy, they are #carbonnegative forms of energy. To be deployed they need: ✅ policy support, ✅ robust methodologies, ✅ & a sound business case Find out more here 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dk836eCM
Today, we had a fantastic opportunity to visit Stockholm Exergi, which kindly hosted the regular meeting of Bioenergy Europe's Working Group on Carbon Dioxide Removals. The facility itself is very impressive, but the future lies on this small container in the photo: the pilot unit installed to test biogenic CO2 capture. The fundamentals of the technology are there, but there are so many other components that are needed to make this a reality: policy support, robust methodologies, a sound business case... A big challenge but one that the team of Stockholm Exergi can definitely handle. We will need carbon removals at large scale in the future, deployment takes time, so it is imperative that policy makers create an enabling policy framework. In theory this could be the easiest, but the practice is always a little different... Many thanks to Johan Börje and the team for hosting us and several of our members! P.S.: The photo pays tribute to another of Sweden's long lasting contributions to humanity - excellent heavy metal. :-P #BECCS

The #decarbonization and #defossilization of the global energy system requires an effective interface between electricity as the primary form of energy with molecular energy carriers and chemical products. In July 1925, the two chemists Franz Fischer and Hans Tropsch patented a process that 100 years later provides a major contribution to address this challenge and holds tremendous opportunities still for innovation. From 5 - 7 May 2025 we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the “Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis” with a conference in Mülheim an der Ruhr. The conference will reflect the most recent developments in technology and application, and highlight fundamental progress in the understanding and improvement of the catalytic reaction. The scientific program will be placed in the context of the historical development and feature platforms to discuss the societal and environmental prospects of the Fischer-Tropsch Process for #sustainableEnergy systems. More information on our conference website: https://lnkd.in/eCpu3dRn #100FischerTropsch The Scientific Committee is looking forward to welcome you: Michael Claeys, Andreas Förster, Walter Leitner, Unni Olsbye, Gonzalo Prieto, Ferdi Schüth

Dear network, Yesterday Valvesco had the opportunity to participate in the Hydrogen Industry Cluster fair, from WaterstofNet . Together with my colleagues Bart Praats and Wouter Teunissen, we represented Valvesco. 🤵 🤵 🤵 Valvesco also offers solutions for the hydrogen industry. The purpose of this fair is important to expand our network, but also to delve deeper into the hydrogen story. 🕸 Technical knowledge is very important for Valvesco, which is why we cannot miss the hydrogen hype. 🤓 Valvesco- Controlling the flow

VII MED HUB DAY - 9th &10th November 2023 - Tacking towards greener hub ports The aim of the VII MED HUB DAY is to promote, debate and exchange both ideas and knowledge about the strengths and opportunities that the Mediterranean Sea offers us as a logistics platform for chemical and petrochemical products. For two days, storage terminal operators, ports, consignees, forwarders, market analysts and petrochemical companies will meet to discuss and to provide ideas and news about the energy transition era. We will have a complete programme of experts linked to the sector, and there will be no lack of networking. DO NOT MISS THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPAND YOUR BUSINESS! An international event with the participation of whole agents in the liquid bulk logistics chain. Top speakers who will provide to the audience their vision about the opportunities of the Mediterranean in the liquid bulk sector. A mix between traditional and new topics: from the petrochemical hub vision to the opportunities that the energy transition era is provinding. https://hubs.ly/Q026d_jK0 Port Tarragona
