Williams, Chandler-Crichlow, McEwen and Wane all said they hope to inspire young Black women to follow in their footsteps. "Find out what you love. Find out what you don't like... When other people give you advice, sometimes they're going to give you advice that is based on their low expectations of what you can do and who you are. You need to know yourself. And you need to do what you know you can do," Williams said.

New England Women in Energy and the Environment (NEWIEE)’s work reminds me how important it is to drive greater diversity, inclusion, and opportunity for women who aspire or are pursuing careers in energy and environmental sectors. Explore how you can get engaged with hashtag #NEWIEE: https://newiee.org/
MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Theresa Hopkins-Staten is President, Eversource Foundation and Vice President, Corporate Citizenship and Equity with Eversource Energy and part of NEWIEE's Boston Chapter. Theresa is also an Associate Producer of the documentary "Black Women In Medicine," a dynamic collection of stories of prominent Black women doctors! "The NEWIEE 'Spotlight' in celebration of Black History Month is especially important because it provides an opportunity to acknowledge the achievements and major contributions of Black women making a difference in industries often viewed as not providing careers in leadership for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) individuals. These Spotlights will open a lens that allows women and BIPOC individuals to see someone who looks like them in leadership positions and the endless possibilities they too can achieve." Thanks for being a part of NEWIEE, Theresa! #CorporateCitizenship #DocumentaryProducer #BlackHistoryMonth

As we step into Black History Month, ADR Consulting Group would like to shine a light on Black women and Black women leaders. In the first month of the year, we witnessed the discrimination and hardships that Black women are facing in their professional careers. Cases such as the resignation of Claudine Gay, the first Black woman president of Harvard University, and the tragic death of Lincoln University's Vice President of Student Affairs, Antoinette Candia-Bailey, highlight the lack of support and overall isolation that Black women experience across institutions, especially in higher education where they are severely underrepresented. As a Black woman-owned and -led organization, we are committed to combatting these inequalities and to fostering spaces and workplace environments where Black women can not only be present, but can thrive. This month and beyond, we look forward to continued partnership with Black women leaders, uplifting their needs and highlighting their valuable contributions to their industries. #BlackHistoryMonth #ADRConsultingGroup #BlackWomenLeaders

Listening to Angela Reese explain to the entire world her experiences as a black girl/ woman really set my heart on fire for the work that I desire to do to help Black Women navigate resilience recovery! Right now I am conducting a survey of Black Women in higher education to help me learn more about what key factors are contributing to their burnout and the obstacles they are experiencing as they navigate resillence recovery. I have a series of resources and supports that I would like to share with Black Women Educators 💗 Please Share this study with your peers, former professors, social media community etc. If you are interested in participating in this study please click the link to complete the survey <https://lnkd.in/g8dsfdAK> For additional questions, feel free to email me at [email protected] or my faculty advisor for this study, Dr. Amy Good at [email protected]

Learning about the Scholarship of Black Women and Nonbinary Intellectuals Higher education, a traditional site for knowledge production, has systemically excluded Black women and nonbinary women by devaluing their intellectual abilities and their ways of representing themselves because of their untraditional research or approaches to their work. But we need to know that they have chosen and continue to choose deviant and novel forms of knowledge production because their objectives for intellectual work have often been different: humanizing marginalized individuals so that American society can/will see them as equal humans and citizens and, in this way, restore their dignity. So learn about Black women and non-binary scholars and how their work set examples for what research would look like if it were truly equitable and credit their work! https://lnkd.in/gKArx7Gx
