Sustainability is integrated into everything we do at Charter Hall. It enables us to drive positive impact and maximise value for all stakeholders. In our Industrial & Logistics sector, we achieved Net Zero emissions for assets within operational control (Scope 1 and Scope 2) in FY23, two years ahead of our Group target, by investing in renewable electricity. However, in our sector, Scope 3 emissions are the real challenge and material change comes from our ability to partner with our tenant customers in reducing their emissions. That’s why we have more than 45W of onsite solar installed across our I&L portfolio, and another 13MW committed – more than half of the Group-wide solar capacity. We’re also driving initiatives to reduce emissions associated with building materials, protecting the long-term resilience of our assets through a changing climate, and creating enduring impact in the communities in which we operate. I’m proud of the progress the I&L team has made towards meeting our ESG goals. Watch the video below to see how we’re partnering for a better future. 

Just like Lindsey Roon Wiedmann, our Chief Legal and Sustainability Officer at Maxeon Solar Technologies, I frequently get questions about the environmental impact of PV waste and the recyclability of panels.   Lindsey does a fantastic job in this post providing insights and explanations on this important matter and I definitely recommend you read it to make up your own mind.   Specifically to our company, and to our SunPower modules, the subject of recyclability has long been a priority. Here is how installing SunPower PV modules makes a difference, compared to other brands: - Our solar panels were the first ones, and are maybe still today the only ones widely available on the market, to be Cradle-to-Cradle Certified. This means that our panels have been designed and manufactured to minimize their environmental footprint and maximize reutilization of materials involved in its production. "Reutilization" actually receives the highest "Gold" evaluation. - SunPower modules have the longest warranty on the market, up to 40 years. More importantly, with higher nominal efficiencies (up to 24.1%, the highest on the market) and lower annual degradation rates (-0.25% guaranteed), we offer the promise of very long-term performance, minimizing the need and the desire for replacement. - SunPower is the founding member of the first ever PV recycling agency, PV Cycle, back in 2008. Our commitment to recycling is engraved in our brand and company identity and we keep pushing for the highest standards of environmental responsibility. Some examples? For instance our factories in Mexico are certified by NSF "Zero Waste to Landfill" and they are LEED Platinum for their performance in low energy and low water consumption... I could go on...

This transformative step in the lifecycle of LPG lessens our carbon footprint, fostering an ecosystem that thrives on renewable resources without sacrificing the high-energy output we have come to rely on. - **Carbon Footprint Reduction**: BioLPG provides an immediate route to carbon savings, making it a critical component of our collective efforts to combat climate change. By integrating BioLPG into existing infrastructure, we minimize the need for large-scale changes while still achieving a substantial reduction in carbon emissions. - **Versatility**: As versatile as traditional LPG, BioLPG can be seamlessly adopted for use in domestic heating, cooking, and transportation. Its compatibility with existing technologies ensures a smooth transition with minimal disruption for consumers and businesses alike. - **Energy Security**: In our pursuit of energy independence, BioLPG emerges as an instrumental player. It paves the way for countries to harness local waste and residue streams, curbing reliance on imported fossil fuels and reinforcing national energy security. However, the path forward is layered with challenges: - **Scaling Production**: The evolution of BioLPG markets depends on the scaling of production capabilities to meet rising demand. Stakeholders must invest in and incentivize the necessary infrastructure to widen the availability of BioLPG. - **Policy Support**: Robust policy frameworks are essential to nurture the growth of BioLPG. Government incentives and regulatory support will play a significant role in ensuring the viability and competitiveness of this renewable alternative. - **Awareness and Adoption**: It's imperative to raise awareness of the benefits of BioLPG to accelerate its acceptance among consumers and industries. In conclusion, BioLPG represents a marriage of environmental responsibility and energy efficiency. It is a beacon of hope for a more sustainable future but requires concerted efforts from governments, businesses, and consumers alike to realize its full potential. The path is set, the green flag is raised; let us forge ahead, transforming how we think about and consume energy.

By taking these steps, not only will you be improving air quality and the environment, but you'll also be supporting local economies and promoting public health.
