💚 We’re pleased to again partner with Trash Free Trails on their 2024 Earth Day Spring Clean campaign. 🙌 Over 1000 volunteers across the UK will celebrate Earth Day by removing over a tonne of rubbish from trails and parkland, this coming weekend April 19th - 21st. 💪 The Trash Free Trails’ Spring Clean campaign has seen the removal of over 60,000 individual items of Single-Use Pollution from public green spaces and trails. In 2023 alone Earth Day Spring Clean events across the UK removed over 50% of that amount. Many of these events made use of komoot’s route planning and sharing features to connect with and inspire other outdoor enthusiasts to get involved. 🤗 Trash Free Trails have created a free ‘Do It Ourselves’ Toolkit to help individuals and groups organise Earth Day Spring Cleans. Alongside events hosted by their Community Hubs across the UK, they’ll also be running two flagship events in Bristol, and on Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) over Earth Day Weekend. Happy National Cleaning Week, everyone! 🌺☀️ Spring is the perfect time to rejuvenate your community! Here are a few spring cleaning tips: 1) Organize a Community Clean-Up Day: Rally the community together for a day of decluttering public spaces. Make it fun by adding a social event at the end to thank volunteers.🌲 2) Promote Recycling and Waste Reduction: Encourage residents to recycle and properly dispose of waste. Consider hosting a recycling workshop or provide easy access to recycling bins around the community. ♻️ 3) Enhance Green Spaces: Plant native flowers or trees and maintain existing green areas. These efforts not only beautify the community but also support local biodiversity.🌿 4) Update Signage: Replace any outdated or worn-out signs around the community. Fresh, clear signage can make a big difference in the overall appearance.🪧 5) Encourage Individual Responsibility: Remind residents of their role in keeping their personal and shared spaces clean. Rivers have the unique power to shape, nurture and create life wherever they flow. As we conclude Landcare week we reflect on this year's theme of ‘Be Inspired, Be Empowered, be a Landcarer’. With this theme in mind, we urge you to: 💡 #BeInspired and celebrate the incredible work being done worldwide in sustainable river management and restoration. We recognise the outstanding contributions that Thiess International River Prize recipients have made in river management and restoration. 💪 #BeEmpowered to stand up and collaborate with your local community to commence the restoration and protection of your local rivers and waterways. By planting native vegetation along their riverbanks, reducing pollution and plastic waste, and advocating for sustainable community practices, you can help safeguard your river to nurture future generations. 💧 #BeALandcarer by supporting your local community environmental care groups through attending local events, donating to support local organisations, and advocating for laws and policies to protect and preserve our natural spaces. Let us embrace our roles as Landcarers, recognising the power and importance of rivers in our lives. By being inspired by global achievements, educating ourselves about sustainable practices, and actively participating in local initiatives, we can make a meaningful impact on the health and vitality of our rivers. Remember, every action, no matter how small, contributes to a larger movement of sustainability and environmental stewardship. Together, we hold the power to shape a brighter future for our rivers and generations to come. Landcare Australia #landcare #landcareweek #SustainableRivers #EnvironmentalStewardship

At this time of year, the only trees you might be thinking of are Christmas trees! 🎄 However, at Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, the focus is on planting trees and preserving woodlands all year round. This is critical to tackling climate change and nature loss, especially in the Yorkshire Dales where woodland cover is one of the lowest in England. The Woodlands Team plants thousands of trees annually and is even collecting seeds and creating community tree nurseries to ensure they are planting healthy native trees that will thrive in the Dales. 🌳🌲 While the festive season is often associated with excess, we can positively impact the environment by choosing sustainable gifts. By dedicating a tree to a loved one this Christmas, you can provide the gift of protecting the planet and supporting the vital work at YDMT. The trees people dedicate will help capture carbon, provide essential habitats, and improve the health and well-being of people who visit the Dales. To dedicate your tree today, visit their website at 👉 ydmt.org/tree-gifts. #AConsciousChristmas #giftatree #sustainablechristmas

In recent times, saving water has become the need of the hour. Given our circumstances, it is only fair that we collectively put in effort to save water as much as we can. There are a multitude of new innovations which strive towards water saving such as water-saving nozzles and aerators. These tap attachments have proven to be a groundbreaking invention contributing to a greener planet. It’s time to give back to Mother Earth for providing and nurturing us by doing the bare minimum of preserving her gifts and using them wisely. Are you ready to get your Christmas tree down 🎄 but you’re not sure what to do with it? We’ve got some top tips on what to do with your tree this January and none of it involves awkward trips to the local tip 💪. 🟢Most councils offer roadside pick-up or drop-off locations for Christmas trees. They'll usually chip the trees into mulch, which can be used in parks or gardens. 🟢Find a community tree recycling event. Many organisations host tree recycling events in early January. You can usually find information about local events on your local social media pages. 🟢Turn your tree into compost yourself. It will need chopping down and the needles can take time to breakdown, but you can successfully compost your own tree year on year. #zerowaste #netzero #green #sustainability

#WORLDCONSERVATIONDAY acknowledges that the foundation for a healthy society is a healthy environment. It’s also a day to increase awareness about the importance of protecting our natural resources. As a company whose core focus is to preserve and restore our natural environment, we take part in many conservation efforts. We have multiple divisions that ensure the environment is protected from project start to finish. There are some simple ways as individuals to conserve our natural resources. - Plant trees to reduce soil erosion - Reduce, reuse and recycle - Carpool with co-workers - Shut off lights when leaving a room - Go digital instead of printing things on paper - Volunteer for community cleanups - Use non-toxic cleaning supplies - Make your own compost If everyone does their part, our planet’s natural resources will be available for years to come.
