You're right, the #UnitedStatesofAmerica is the only high-income country without paid maternity leave. According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the U.S. is one of only two countries out of 41 that doesn't offer paid leave for new mothers. This can be really tough for women who are trying to balance work and family life. Studies have shown that women who return to work within two weeks of giving birth are at higher risk for #postpartumdepression, and that paid #maternity leave can help reduce the risk of postpartum depression. It's #important for employers and policymakers to recognise the importance of paid maternity leave and work to make it more widely available. #mytraumaischronicbutiamiconic #MTICBIAI
“Higher risk The U.S. is the only high-income nation in the world that doesn’t have paid maternity leave, according to the nonprofit Bipartisan Policy Center, and an estimated one in four women return to work within two weeks of giving birth. The stress of juggling a job during the physical and emotional changes of new motherhood puts women at higher risk for postpartum depression, studies have found.”

"ACEs science can prevent school shootings; first people have to learn about ACEs science." Jane Stevens, ACEsConnection
Motherhood in the US?!? It is infuriating what we expect of women who are often seemingly abandoned by employers, partners, family, their communities when the need is so great and the stakes — the ability to form a secure attachment with their baby, which has a tremendous impact on health, learning, success — are the HIGHEST, higher than at any other time in life! Clare Anderson, MSW has a brilliant presentation about many of the economic drivers of this challenge. Christina Bethell has myriad preventive solutions and supports for parents in the brilliant wellvisitplanner.com. Deborah McNelis. M.Ed has a booklet on 22 myths about caring for newborns that every hospital and birthing center, OBGYN, midwife, Lamaze International, and others need to be sharing before the baby comes to educate people about the importance of The First 60 Days, research showing that the child with a great first two months of life and a horrible next 12 years will likely have a better outcome than the precious newborn who has a horrific first two months and a relationally healthy next 12 years! That is how important a safe, sacred, protected time is for new moms/caregivers and newborns. Family Connects International partnering with other terrific organizations could provide incredible home visiting support. PACEs Connection can help get the word out and Campaign for Trauma-Informed Policy & Practice (CTIPP) is working on creating policies for trauma informed care around family and women’s health, among myriad issues. EndCAN is working hard too, while in NC, North Carolina Early Childhood Foundation has a division working to help certify companies providing needed supports. GO Lisa Finaldi 💕 ! Can a man give birth? - Clown world Only women can give birth - but should that be the 'measure' of what a women is in our society. The trans community insist that 'saying your a women' is actually MORE IMPORTANT than being an 'actual women'. We see this in the nonsensical claims that a man can menstruate, breastfeed or have a baby. That of course is nonsense so they flip the switch to say trans men can. What there actually saying is only women can give birth but a women can simply call herself a 'man' and magically a man can give birth. Clown world You see I'm not misgendering when I point out someones 'actual' sex. And I have facts, logic, reason and science on my side. So its the trans community, and its backers, insistence that I bend the knee and speak untruths or I'm the immoral one. Not going to happen and it would appear the rest of the world is waking up to the chaos these nonsensical ideologies create.

"Obstetricians may not take ownership. Pediatricians may not take ownership. Psychiatrists may not take ownership, all of them are punting the mother to each other, and moms fall through the cracks.” ~ Joy Burkhard Thank you The Wall Street Journal, for featuring the Policy Center in this article today illuminating the struggles of #motherhood in America. https://lnkd.in/eEAiR3uR

“Researchers estimate that one in five new mothers in the U.S. suffers from mood and anxiety disorders during pregnancy and up to a year after giving birth—about 800,000 mothers every year. Yet studies show that a large majority of women who suffer from maternal mental-health disorders aren’t able to get help. The U.S. is already the most dangerous place among high-income nations to give birth, with the highest rate of deaths related to pregnancy and childbirth, according to the World Health Organization. The number of women in the U.S. who died during pregnancy or shortly after recently grew to its highest rate since 1965, according to the National Center for Health Statistics, to 33 deaths per 100,000 live births—a number that ranks behind Syria and Uzbekistan.” Join us at our upcoming Care At Work Summit as we explore prevalent issues affecting moms and caregivers in the workplace and learn from industry experts and leaders on solutions that support employee wellbeing! Early Bird tickets are available on www.mhworklife.com/summit. We also have a reimbursement template you can download so your company can cover your ticket costs for you. https://lnkd.in/g-zv6dDp

"Though Ms Sun Xueling, Minister of State for Social and Family Development, stated in 2019 that single unmarried parents are valued citizens who are no less than their married counterparts and should be equally respected, it is easy to see why such stigma persists; existing policies perpetuate the view of single-mother families as inferior to the traditional ideal of dual-parent families."
