Blockchain Modularity Thesis: How we can solve the trilemma The modular thesis stands out as an approach, that can achieve decentralization, security, and scalability simultaneously. The latest insights from Galaxy Research's report, that my friend James M. shared previously and helped me understand a lot, shed light on how modular blockchains like Celestia are changing the game. The core idea behind the modular thesis is simple yet profound: disaggregate the primary functions of a blockchain (execution, settlement, data availability, and consensus) into separate layers. This specialization allows each layer to operate more efficiently without compromising the other attributes. For instance, Celestia focuses exclusively on data availability and consensus, enabling other networks to handle execution and settlement.
