In today's selection on day number 25 of #Reggaemonth Damian Marley tells his son about his roots. Damian explains that his dad (Bob Marley) made it out of the ghetto and uses his story to inspire his son. It made me think about how some organizations are great at telling THEIR story to new recruits so that they understand the culture, vision and struggles of the founders. Sadly many organisations do not do that. Case in point - I have worked for five organizations and not one of them has shared their story with me. I'm a dutiful person so hopefully I've added value, but why take the chance? Tell people the story - the good, the bad and the ugly. Let them know that the skyscraper office was built on blood, sweat and tears of people who had a dream and have them see themselves as custodians of that dream. Take them into the vision of the founders and let those pictures on the wall come to life. Excite them about your organization. Here is what Damian sings... Don't you want your team to be motivated and excited about you from day one and to use that excitement to help fuel them daily.
