Update of the 6 courses I’ve taken I have 3A’s & 2 D’s 🥺
Being a "non-traditional" student has its challenges, but somehow I persevere. If you're a new LinkedIn connection, hi, I'm Maryum, a 29-year-old senior Family and Consumer Sciences Fashion Merchandising Honors student at the illustrious Morgan State University. I am also the mother of a 6-year-old boy, and we reside in a single-parent home. Almost every day this semester, I managed to get up, take him to school, attend my internship, sometimes work, go to class, and participate in extracurricular activities for him. This is my first semester feeling burnout, and I'm almost certain I'll receive my first C. Regardless, the semester is over, and I can't undo what's been done. Anyways, keep going—don't ever give up! Take a few breaks if needed, but please don't give up. I'm rooting for YOU. 🌹

Appreciation goes a long way. My graduate school journey has been anything but straightforward. I have chosen to take on numerous projects, work long hours, and still try to balance my life outside of here. I have often felt unappreciated in this process. However, this is certainly not something I am experiencing alone. This summer I got to step into a world of appreciation. Although it’s easy to take photos of the gifts Owens Corning gave their interns for Intern Day, it’s a lot harder to capture the appreciation I felt from each interaction, which gave me a true sense of belonging- something I so often have lacked in graduate school. Appreciation, safety and caring culture start with one person, so I intend to bring safety shares to my group meetings and make sure that the people in my group and collaborations know how much their hard work is appreciated and valued. How can you spread appreciation culture through your group? #graduateschool #graduatestudents #internship #appreciation

《Crafting Your Own Optimal Formula – DuPont 2023 Summer Internship Experience》 Last week marked the end of my two-month summer internship at 杜邦 , and I'm grateful that DuPont enriched my final summer as a student. I'd like to express my sincere appreciation to my mentors, George and Doris, for granting me the freedom to explore, harness my creativity, and showcase my abilities. Here, I'd like to share several key takeaways that were paramount during my internship: 1. #TechnicalProficiency: During my time in the manufacturing department, I actively participated in projects related to process improvement. I leveraged databases to extract data and create dashboards, enabling the department to monitor product quantities and defect distributions in real-time. I also utilized quality control lab data to develop manpower demand forecasting model, aiding the lab in efficient staff allocation, reducing waste. Additionally, I contributed to the department's digital transformation initiative, educating team members on tools like #ChatGPT and #PowerBI to enhance efficiency. 2. #SocialNetworking: Beyond departmental projects, I engaged in a project with the DuPont Women's Network (DWN). In collaboration with two other interns (Jennifer Liao and Pei-Hsuan Ming ), we served as strategy consultants, conducting research on employee perceptions and expectations of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). This effort helped formulate future plans and promotion strategies. Through this project, I had the opportunity to interact with over 20 individuals from different departments and professions. This experience deepened my understanding of the company's operations and the responsibilities associated with various roles. 3. #Leadership and #TeamCollaboration: As the team leader for the DWN project, I learned how to lead a group effectively and allocate tasks while fostering open communication and collaboration. While individuals can be efficient, the creativity that emerges from a group is boundless. I'm immensely thankful for the trust placed in me by my team members and mentors(Renay and Chen-Ling Lai ). There are so many people to express gratitude to – thanks to the manufacturing department, the DWN team, and other interns. As this chapter concludes, I'm excited to announce my availability for new opportunities in 2024. Please don't hesitate to reach out, and let's explore how I can contribute value to your team. #DuPontsummerinternship #DuPontWomenNetwork #DuPont
