Today we observe Juneteenth, which not only honors the resilience and contributions of African Americans but also serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for racial equity and liberatory justice. By recognizing and celebrating Juneteenth, we acknowledge the profound impact of slavery and the dire need for continued work in dismantling white supremacist ideologies and creating a society that is safe, equitable, and inclusive for all.

To preserve slavery, enslavers claimed slavery was “positively good” and that abolitionists were making up the terror and exploitation of slavery. To preserve Jim Crow, segregationists claimed public accommodations and institutions were “separate but equal” and that civil rights activists were making up all the racial inequity and injustice. To preserve racism today, the ideological descendants of enslavers and segregationists are claiming that the U.S. is a “colorblind” society and antiracist intellectuals and activists are making up all the racial inequity and injustice. As they strive to preserve racism, we must strive to recognize and combat these repackaged ideas by deepening our understanding of history. Making this Black History Month all the more critical. 👊🏿

The legacy of maroon settlements offers valuable insights and inspiration for modern Black liberation movements in America. By adapting principles of self-sufficiency, collective solidarity, armed resistance, and cultural resilience, contemporary activists can build upon the legacy of resistance and chart a path towards a more just and liberated future for Black communities. As Assata Shakur envisioned, the struggle for Black liberation is protracted and multifaceted, requiring steadfast commitment, collective action, and a vision of liberation rooted in the legacy of maroon resistance. https://lnkd.in/giHbnhfg

The significance of the UK Black History Month cannot be over emphasised. However it should be a season of sober reflection with renewal of mindset only to focus on how to move the Afro race forward not to dwell on or re echo sad incidences of past but to pursue Market driven concepts for mutual benefits of now and future . The Afro race is the most blessed of all mankind. Need to shake off the imperialist and neo colonial hang over is a sure sign of readiness for the market- driven system that has the potential to inspire Afro renaissance once again. The world is waiting for a new generation of our people who are ready to think and work side by side their competitors. A people ready to think as leaders of the new world not leaders who are sardined at places of shame to solicit not even for partnership on equal basis but sickening atmosphere of borrowing and receiving for criminal consumption. We Arise now or we are left as debris of humanity...
