🚄💡 The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) is taking a giant leap in rail safety with an innovative AI-powered Trespassing Database 🤖🚦. This cutting-edge technology processes thousands of hours of video to detect and analyze trespassing incidents, aiming to dramatically improve public safety 🛤️🔍. With over 29,000 trespassing events captured through meticulous analysis, this initiative sheds light on trespasser behavior, including when, where, and how trespasses occur 📊🕵️. The insights gained are crucial for tailoring prevention measures, underlining the importance of technology in enhancing rail safety 🌐🚨. This breakthrough represents more than just technological advancement; it's a commitment to saving lives and making our railroads safer for everyone 🏆💖. As we continue to innovate, the journey towards a safer rail network is full steam ahead 🛤️🚀. #railsafety #AInnovation #publicsafety #TrespassingPrevention Metro-North Railroad Metropolitan Transportation Authority #mnrOPEX

In a recent discussion with the North Central Texas Council of Governments, we discussed this very solution. I truly believe that an innovative P3 which benefits both the private and public sectors are the solution to the challenges associated to cost effective and efficient transportation options being implemented in #NorthTexas. We have to think outside the box and work together to solve the challenges for both, again its called a Public, Private, "PARTNERSHIP" (P3) for a reason. Solving the challenges for the one is good for the whole. #letsworktogether #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #transit #freightrail

Performative nonsense. Keep the feasibility studies going. No way anyone builds genuine high speed rail for $8 billion. Touch up the Northeast Corridor here and there, a good thing of course but not actually high speed rail, which requires a dedicated, completely grade-separated, continuous-rail corridor. It often use concrete slab beds instead of less stable stone ballast. Take the California-Las Vegas line, probably the easiest to build and certainly has the passenger density. But the project as envisaged only gets as far west as Victorville, stopping 90 miles short of LA. The rest of the way to the actual passenger concentration, through built urban space, is seen as prohibitively expensive. (European and Chinese high speed rail use tunnels elevated viaducts under or over populated areas and challenging geology.) The foreshortened Las Vegas project is estimated at $12 billion (probably optimistically). The new package offers it $3 billion. California’s other logical high speed rail line is the same story. At both ends it stops well short of the San Francisco and Los Angeles city centres. Oh, well. High speed rail is a very good alternative to cars and planes in densely populated areas such as California, the Northeast, Florida, Texas, Chicagoland. But for it to succeed it must actually link the main population centres and visionaries must be brave about building infrastructure to last a century. Spain reportedly spent €57 billion building its fabulous HSR network from 1990 to present. The expensive sections, over/under urban areas, cost as much as €80 million per kilometre. China has reportedly spent over $300 billion building 42,000 km of HSR, and is expected to have built 50,000 km by 2025. It is said to be profitable. An interesting look at China’s HSR construction methods and cost: https://lnkd.in/eXgXEaiB
🇺🇸 On the right track: earlier today, the Biden administration announced $8.2 billion in funding for ten new initiatives, including the first high-speed rail project in the US. https://lnkd.in/g_gDuFHS This announcement is part of a $30 billion package of recent announcements, including $16.4 billion on the Northeast Corridor, $1.4 billion for passenger rail and freight rail safety projects, and $570 million to upgrade or mitigate railroad crossings. According to Siemens Mobility, they can deliver “… Buy America compliant high-speed trains and systems…” with their American Pioneer 220. @https://lnkd.in/ghSBAHRz #rail #transporation

Exciting News in U.S. Transportation! The Biden administration has committed over $6 billion to advance high-speed electric rail routes in the West. $3 billion will support a privately-owned route between Las Vegas and Los Angeles, and $3.1 billion will fund an initial segment connecting Los Angeles and San Francisco. Despite project challenges and increased costs, this move underscores the administration's dedication to high-speed rail, a transformative step in American transportation. The funding will particularly aid the California High-Speed Rail Authority in closing a $10 billion gap for a 119-mile stretch in the Central Valley. The Las Vegas-Los Angeles route now has all approvals and could see electric-powered trains by the 2028 Summer Olympics. This initiative is set to create jobs and address traffic congestion, marking a significant milestone in our transportation evolution.
