Oftentimes job titles don't always get to the depth of what we're actually doing from week to week. It can be scary to share calendars, understand what the heck a job title means, and what that actually means when breaking down the work further. While I don't think it's an obligation, I also think it's helpful to share the work I'm doing (at the very least for myself to help keep me grounded in the "Big Picture" of it all.) This week my role as Director of AmeriCorps Program Operations has looked like the image below. This includes: 1) Reviewing studies, frameworks, curriculums, and interventions that best match the program design we're building for our AmeriCorps Grant; 2) Internally collaborating to build out YSA Programming (did you know we're only six months out from Global Youth Service Day?!); 3) Externally collaborating to support our AmeriCorps Programs (like holding a feedback session about Member Experience). In times like these when the world feels really big and there's a lot going on I can remind myself this is what I can control, with the hopes the work I'm doing on can impact and change the individuals and world around me. #calendars #dayinthelife #weekinthelife #projectplanning #americorps #gettingthingsdone

If we can start the educational developmental process in our Clan schools, village and local governments, significant progress would be made in a short time. Reducing the amount, we spend on frivolities and channeling those funds to support these disadvantaged ones is a step on the upward gradient of true urban educational revitalization. More academic competitions, seminars, and community literacy projects should be situated within the context of local schools. There are many stars in the rural areas yet to shine and they need us. There are many hidden Scholars begging to be blessed with wings to fly. Together, we can birth an educational renaissance; one school and one child at a time. The time to act is now.
