While managing an independent practice comes with its challenges, solo providers have the freedom to set their own schedules and tailor their practice to align with their goals and patient needs. By maintaining autonomy, physicians have more freedom to do what they do best: determine what systems and processes best support what matters most: quality of care for their patients.

How to conduct clinical research in prehospital care 🚑 and make the link with hospital infrastructure ? 🏥 Happy to share this little review for which we were invited to describe the state of art/ future challenges of clinical research in prehospital care. ⚕ 💊 « Prehospital care plays a critical role in improving patient outcomes, particularly in cases of time-sensitive emergencies such as trauma, cardiac failure, stroke, bleeding, breathing difficulties, systemic infections, etc. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in clinical research in prehospital care, and several challenges and opportunities have emerged. There is an urgent need to adapt clinical research methodology to a context of prehospital care. At the same time, there are many barriers in prehospital research due to the complex context, posing unique challenges for research, development, and evaluation. Among these, this review allows the highlighting of limited resources and infrastructure, ethical and regulatory considerations, time constraints, privacy, safety concerns, data collection and analysis, selection of a homogeneous study group, etc. The analysis of the literature also highlights solutions such as strong collaboration between emergency medical services (EMS) and hospital care, use of (mobile) health technologies and artificial intelligence, use of standardized protocols and guidelines, etc. Overall, the purpose of this narrative review is to examine the current state of clinical research in prehospital care and identify gaps in knowledge, including the challenges and opportunities for future research. » Claude Braun Hôpitaux Robert Schuman https://lnkd.in/e_WFzd8p

An independent review of Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust's use of clinical communications platform Bleepa reveals a whopping 75% reduction in referral times compared to paper-based systems. Across respiratory, cardiology, and gastroenterology at Royal Oldham Hospital and Fairfield General Hospital, Bleepa streamlined all processes. The data from 10,000 patient referrals (July '21-April '23) shows a remarkable average time from referral submission to first review at just 0.55 days, down from 2.1 days pre-Bleepa. Financially, it's a win too, with potential net savings of £819,000 over five years, excluding deployment costs. Georges Ng Man Kwong, Chief Clinical Information Officer, praises Bleepa's impact on clinical performance, emphasizing its role during the pandemic. Plans are underway to expand Bleepa's usage across specialties. Healthgrades has announced the recipients of the 2024 America's Best Hospitals Awards and State Rankings, recognizing hospitals across the United States for their clinical excellence and specialty care by state. With over 4,500 hospitals evaluated across more than 30 common procedures and conditions, Healthgrades has identified the top 250 hospitals in the country, along with the highest-ranking hospitals in 18 specialty areas across 32 eligible states. The awards, which include America's 50 Best Hospitals™, America's 100 Best Hospitals™, and America's 250 Best Hospitals™, are based on clinically validated methodologies that focus on patient outcomes. Healthgrades aims to empower consumers to choose high-quality hospitals and doctors, and a recent survey revealed that 76% of consumers prefer hospitals with high-quality ratings, with 63% more likely to choose a hospital that has received a quality award. The top five states with the most hospitals in the top 250 are California, Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, with notable hospitals including Lancaster General in Pennsylvania, Mayo Clinic Hospitals, Ascension Alexian Brothers in Illinois, AdventHealth Orlando in Florida, and Tisch Hospital at NYU Health in New York. HCA Healthcare has the most hospitals (54) in the top rankings across 12 states, and the most improved hospitals for 2024 were Altru Hospital in North Dakota, HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood in Texas, and Texas Health Specialty Hospital. Healthgrades also identified top-ranked hospitals in 32 states across 18 key specialty areas, including critical care, joint replacement, and spine surgery. The methodology used by Healthgrades involves analyzing more than 45 million Medicare medical claims from 2020 to 2022, considering factors like patient outcomes and risk factors. Hospitals cannot opt in or out, nor submit their own data. The top 100 hospitals have consistently been in the top 250 for at least the past five years.
