Monteith Construction, transitions to employee ownership via an ESOP. "From day one, people have been central to our company purpose and growth, and for several years now, we have taken steps to make our company an employee-owned one," says John Monteith, company founder and chairman. "We have always led with culture, so making Monteith a place where everyone shares in ownership is the natural next step in our evolution." "This is about putting ownership into the hands of the people who drive our success," adds CEO and President Bryan Thomas. "Our team brings passion and grit to work each day, and the ESOP now provides a long-term, wealth-building benefit without changing any of our company values. We couldn't be more excited for what the future holds." https://lnkd.in/gCRS8ksn #ESOP #employeeownership

Last Friday, our Rokon team attended the Albury-Wodonga Cross Border Trade Breakfast, co-hosted by WorkSafe Victoria and SafeWork NSW. The event, held ahead of a safety blitz in the construction industry, was incredibly informative and highlighted three critical topics: · Falls from Height: The discussion emphasised the importance of safety measures, such as securing ladders and maintaining three points of contact, to prevent serious falls. This aligns with Rokon's commitment to safety as a top priority. · Work-Related Mental Injuries: The statistics shared were a stark reminder of the mental health challenges within the construction industry. Rokon recognises the importance of fostering a supportive and open culture to address these issues. · Women in Construction: With the industry averaging just 12% of women, there's a clear need for change. Rokon is committed to promoting diversity and inclusivity, ensuring that everyone, regardless of gender, feels welcome and valued in the construction industry. The event was not only informative but also served as a reminder of the ongoing challenges and opportunities for improvement within our industry. Rokon remains dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all our team members and partners. By expanding the “essential terms and conditions of employment” to include actions like “the supervision of the performance of duties,” “the assignment of duties to be performed,” “the tenure of employment,” and “working conditions related to the safety and health of employees,” we believe the NLRB is ignoring the concerns of the construction industry that have been repeatedly brought up during this rule-making process. #LetsBuildMT https://buff.ly/3uSPFyn

ICYMI: The GTSWCA is a member of the League of Champions. (We joined the LOC in March 2022.) LOC is a cross-sectoral organization dedicated to health and safety excellence through collaboration and information sharing on real-world health and safety situations. Together, with members and patrons, the LOC develops industry-leading best practices with a solutions-oriented focus on actual experiences. Its goal is to inspire leaders to commit, collaborate, and take action to improve safety culture through awareness, education, promotion, and recognition leading to safer construction workplaces in Ontario. “What we’re trying to do with LOC—and as an industry—is find that next level, in order to further improve health and safety records on our job sites," says Patrick McManus, executive director of OSWCA and Greater Toronto Sewer & Watermain Contractors Association. "Rather than just seeing companies manage on their own, LOC provides an open forum for all industry stakeholders to participate, and to arrive at means and methods to improve the entire industry.” #hockey #construction #workplacesafety #Toronto #healthandsafety

Shouldn't those who build the very roads, structures we live in also be rewarded equally? It's time we recognize the value construction workers bring to our lives and consider leveling the playing field in compensation. Let's work towards a world where everyone's contributions are fairly acknowledged. #FairPayForAll #ValueEveryWorker #construction #constructionindustry #management #UPS

Thank you Josh Murray and Lisa Moore and everyone at Transport for NSW for having me as part of your Safety Leadership Summits around regional towns in NSW. It was great to meet the teams and get the opportunity to bring the reality of what a tragedy looks like and to give deeper meaning as to why we do what we do and why these summits are so important. Well done on the amazing event. If you would like more information on having a safety presentation that takes workers on a journey to.... 1. the reality of what a tragedy looks like 2. shifting complacency and learning to recognise a she'll be right moment, re-evaluating their decision to make sure it's the right one, because it takes a couple of minutes to decide but a couple of seconds for tragedy to strike and then its too late. 3. Encourage them to speak up when faced with an unsafe situation. email [email protected] or call 0414 656 621 https://lnkd.in/gmgUWjJA https://lnkd.in/gKT_2ySa #touchedbychristopher #christopherslaw #letstalkaboutsafety #complacency #safetyfirst #speakup #stopspeakupsavelives #construction #constructionindustry #safetymanager #projectmanagers #manufacturing #renewablesindustry #safetyfirst #toolboxtalks #toolbox #rail #transport #mining #metro #solarpower #solarfarm #solarfarms #windfarm #windpower #tunnelling #Metro
