DESIGNER BY DAY. ARTIST IN THE EVE I love designing for clients. There’s nothing better than seeing a client with branding that they are happy with that works for their business and their customers. But what if you have an itch that needs scratching and that itch is creating your own artwork. Well I’ve been working away in the evenings and weekends recently to build a collection of wall prints and textiles that are fulfilling the urge within me to create my own designs. My prints are based on my love of bold colours and plants. I arrange each element with paper before creating the digital versions. Like arranging flowers with paper. I love the process and it’s a change from my day job as a designer. I can also now empathise with my small business clients who make all the decisions themselves. Starting from scratch is hard but rewarding. Big shout out to all the small businesses launching products at the moment. From designing to dealing with suppliers to promo and sales - there’s lots of different caps to wear! Creating art is different from designing for clients but it’s very freeing and I really appreciate all the feedback so far on my prints and textiles.
