On March 13th, SeaAhead’s CEO Alissa Peterson travelled to Lisbon, Portugal to speak on an investor panel at Economist Impact's World Ocean Summit. The panel discussion centered around the theme “Investing in Nature,” and Peterson was joined by fellow investors Julie Pullen of Propeller, Jahed Momand of Cerulean Ventures, Tyler Gwinn of Trousdale Ventures, Peter Rive of SolarCity, Ross Brooks of Katapult, and Torsten Thiele of Global Ocean Trust. The investors were asked to weigh in on what constitutes the ‘secret sauce’ of a great project concept, how startups can attract early-stage investment and keep investors hooked, and how to reduce the risks that ocean innovation brings as a rite of passage. Alissa reflected on how wonderful it was to attend an event dedicated to a wide cross-section of stakeholders focused on ocean solutions. Six years ago, when SeaAhead was founded, none of the investors present would have been up there talking about bluetech. [New Episode Release] Fresh out of the studio, Alexander Bent, founder & managing partner of Undivided Ventures in Hong Kong explains why this is the time to invest globally in sustainability and the built environment. Alex dived deep into his investment thesis and offered his perspectives on how different technologies from AI to materials science will transform the #realestate industry globally. “We've got a 330 trillion dollar industry here, which arguably a lot of it, we talk about stranded assets, CRREM pathways to stranded assets, et cetera. I talked to a lot of funds. I've talked to a lot of developers. They're getting very worried about this. And it's not just about their existing portfolios. It's about how they are going to exit portfolios. Because many buyers now actually build in the cost of retrofitting a building to bring it up to sustainability when they're looking at acquiring an asset. So, that might bring the price down. So, for us, we look at everything you've just mentioned. We look at materials. We look at hardware.
