The Other Box Office 🎬 📦 Vince Vaughn is an American actor, producer, screenwriter, and comedian known for hits like Wedding Crashers, The Break-Up, Couples Retreat, The Internship, and The Delivery Man. 📽️ Meeting him was a highlight! Vince is genuinely funny and quick-witted, and I got to see some great improv from him. At 196cm, he's someone I literally look up to. 📏 Unlike many celebrities with entourages, Vince arrived at this event solo, driving himself and walking in the back door just like anyone else. 🚗 And like many of us, he's not immune to wearing reading glasses now and then. 🤓 Seeing him in person was a great reminder of how down-to-earth and relatable even the biggest stars can be. Introducing our Manager of Game Presentation, Ally Barry! Q: Tell us a little bit about what you do at the Chargers. A: I work with several departments and the SoFi Stadium creative team to create an exciting and engaging in-game experience for Chargers fans. My team and I use content from our Production Team, graphics from our Creative team, and live entertainment to build an exciting pre-game show then fill the game breaks with engaging content that promotes our partners, fun video content, and live contests for fans. We use the video board as a tool to build energy and create unforgettable moments for Chargers fans at every game. Q: How did you get started? A: I was a Broadcast Journalism major at the University of Montana (Go Griz!) and also handled all of the events for my sorority. At the time they did not have a program for me to get into the video production side of things with the Athletic department. I decided to intern with the local radio station, and then enrolled in as many of the Directing and Producing courses as possible in my program. The combination of my background in live events, and the hands-on producing and directing experience I gained, made Game Presentation feel like a natural fit for where I wanted to take my career. I was incredibly lucky to get the Game Presentation internship in 2017 and the rest is history. Q: What is the most rewarding part of your job? A: The most rewarding part has to be seeing the fans on game days and how they react to the entertainment/experience we've created for them. Hearing the chuckles from the crowd when we do "Look-A-Likes" or hearing the crowd get really hyped during "Titanium" in the second half, those are the moments that make what we do fun. Q: Any advice for those trying to get a job in sports? A: Work hard and be nice to people. That’s really it. Do you know that where you find yourself ultimately determines the outcome of your life in relation to your aspirations, achievements, and goals? This is one major factor that most people ignore while on their way to fulfilling their life goals. While it is imperative that we pay close attention to capacity development and character refinement, we should not disregard the power of environment and association as pivotal tools to attaining our short- and long-term goals. The success story of Steven Spielberg is a classic case study of a man who understands the importance of environment and association as sure-fire pivots to success. Steven Spielberg was rejected three times from film school. Despite this, he kept applying until he got accepted. Eventually, Cal State Long Beach would accept him into their film program. He knew he needed to get into the film environment and build a network in that environment to stand a chance of being successful in films. Spielberg would work himself to leverage his opportunity at Cal State to land an unpaid internship at Universal Studios. He didn't just sit back and study films; he wanted to have hands-on practical experience and know what it was like to be in an operational film environment. He began sneaking into the studios undetected so he could continually gather intel on what it would take to become successful in the film business. He went ahead to create a film and managed to get the film into the hands of film executives. Spielberg won't give in to the film executives attempt to discredit his film. He remained dogged and continues to sell the value of the film he created. The executives finally relented and gave his film a shot. The movie would go on to win major awards and solidify Steven Spielberg’s place within the industry. He became a huge success. The defining moment in Steven Spielberg’s success was when he decided to align his focus with his environment and associations.
