It’s day 4 of #ActiveAgingWeek and the focus for today is professional & vocational wellness. When we think of professional & vocational wellness our minds tend to gravitate towards our jobs and not necessarily our passions. But if you change the way you think about this and start to focus on what you are passionate about a whole world of opportunities opens up. Maybe you love to read, garden, cook, or draw, by focusing on your passions you can then find ways to do what you love that helps you maintain professional or vocational wellness. Our partners offer their residents the chance to engage with their community and share their skills and passions on a daily basis. What passion or skill can you share with others today and as you age?

Educational Consultant at Teach Learn Thrive, LLC | workshops and instructional coaching for teachers
I'm pleased to share that the Empowered Educator Summer Session is now enrolling! It's an opportunity for educators of any level to intentionally reset their well-being, so that once the school year starts, balance, health, and overall happiness are sustainable. In this small online cohort, participants will: - Identify high points of their past school year and use that as a jumping-off point to intentionally engineer more joy and satisfaction into 2024-25. - Reflect on roadblocks to well-being from the previous year and learn from them. - (Re-)establish habits for wellness this summer and make a plan for realistic and sustainable wellness once school begins. - Anticipate challenges next school year may bring and so you can respond in ways that align with your values. See the link in the comments to learn more or share with a teacher you care about.

At PWO Group, we cultivate an appreciative corporate culture. Our approach to occupational health and safety therefore goes far beyond the minimum requirements of a working environment. Aside from making sure every employee can work without fear of injury or accidental damage, it also encompasses physical health and mental strength. To this end, we naturally rely on ISO-certified processes in environmental and energy management, which we are increasingly combining with those in occupational health and safety management to form a single integrated system. Independently of this, we have a long tradition of offering a wide range of sports and health-related activities, as well as initiating competitions and events that provide inspiration and shared experiences. Our canteens serve healthy and diverse meals. Protecting against disease through vaccinations, advice and consultation on cancer prevention and family planning – those are examples of our effort to support everyone’s health at PWO Group. Just as much as physical health and safety, our employees’ mental well-being is paramount to us – which is why we intentionally promote a sustainable work life balance and our dedicated team at HR oversees this. We want to create a positive organizational working environment to counteract stress and strain as much as possible, and to ensure that our employees have fun and self-confidence when exploring new approaches. At PWO Group, we enjoy and celebrate joint and individual successes. They are the driving force for each individual and for our team to face the future with joy. #PeoplePlanetProgress #WorldDayforSafetyandHealthatWork #sustainableleadership

At the Health & Wellness Benefits Fair, I got a chance to explore movement with Hudson Yards neighbors (potential members) to see what they’re strong at and what could use work! Chris here had a forward lean with his squat which is very typical. He blamed it on his pants! He probably had some of a point there, but then when we lifted his ankles his squat was much better. This led me to believe his ankle(s) were prohibiting the move which we later found out is true. The squat is such an essential move and there are many ways to assess, work on, and correct the pattern. My type of engineering! I will always believe, whether it’s at Equinox or another gym, this is one of corporations biggest benefits. Use the tools (membership, classes, coaching) and then that’s some real ROI. Functional Movement Screen AND Chris’ willingness to try, for the win! _ #CorporateWellness #Fitness #Movement #Functional #Squat #Work #Explore #Change #Assess #Improve #Be

Transforming Schools to Become Thriving Workplaces I Keynote Speaker I Facilitator I Consultant I Author I Leadership and Executive Coach
Yesterday I spent the day with Iona College Brisbane working on their staff wellbeing framework and action plan. This has been a huge piece of work for them and something we have spent ample time on. When doing this, we approached it intentionally to ensure 3 things: 1. The framework is informed by staff data. 2. Staff voice is represented in both the framework and action plan. 3. Consultation and collaboration is part of the process. I look forward to the next step where we share this with staff and seek feedback. This is an essential step to ensure staff are part of this journey too. (I forgot to take a photo because I'm really bad at that, but if I did it might look like the one below). #staffwellbeing #staffdevelopment ##workplaceculture ##workplacewellbeing
