Construction Week Middle East concluded the Leaders in Construction conferences last month, and one resounding message echoed — sustainable cities are an unattainable dream without the driving force of innovation.
In the past, the concept of #sustainablecities may have appeared blurry, but today, it stands as a beacon of possibility, thanks to the synergy between #constructiontechnology and #innovation.
Consider for a moment the profound impact of technologies like Building Information Modeling (#BIM), where errors are minimised and projects are optimised. It is impressive, really. More than that, it is motivating to see where the industry is heading towards using the power of #collaboration and effective #communication.
This issue is special as it spotlights how the industry has overcome challenges to create developments and urban cities that future generations will experience. On the cover (page 24) is Mohamed Swidan, the Senior Director and Head of MENA at Procore Technologies. Using technology as a backdrop, Swidan talks about leading a #transformative shift in the #constructionsector and aligning with the dynamic needs of the industry and the people it serves.
Digging deeper, we also talked to OpenSpace (page 38) about the utilisation of reality capture and how it's empowering teams to “get things done faster, together.” Going on a similar route, consultants Meinhardt MENA detailed its journey (page 32) in constructing data centres in the Middle East.
A special mention to ALEC, who gave us an exclusive interview with its new CEO Barry Lewis. Lewis spoke about how the construction heavyweight is streamlining its operations through #digitaltechnologies, and integrating different technologies where required.
In the grand scheme of things, the construction industry is moving towards a future defined by the dominance of drones, the precision of robots, the intelligence of AI, and the efficiency of cutting-edge software. While this may seem daunting, one truth emerges — our future is not only crystal clear but profoundly green.
Here’s to a newer, better, and smarter future!
As always, a massive shoutout goes to the CW team for making this issue happen: Julianne Tolentino, Angitha Pradeep, Amjad Ayche, Tofiq S Memon, and Gihane Youssef
