Exciting times ahead! 🎉 Recently, I had the pleasure of taking my niece and her best friend to the Slenky "Take Your Shot Zone" at Wembley Stadium, hosted by Brent Council. Kallure was in full force, showcasing 'Shots' (opportunities) for young talent. This event was a fantastic way for young people to explore their next steps, especially those uncertain about their future. For all the young individuals out there trying to secure their next opportunity, here are my top three tips: 1. Go for it, introduce yourself, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Networking is key. The more people you meet, the more opportunities you'll discover. Don’t hesitate to strike up conversations and ask about different paths and roles. 🗣 2. Write out what you want. Passion leads to purpose. Rather than focusing on the money, aim to gain practical experience. This will help you understand what you enjoy and shape your career direction. Volunteer, intern, or take up small projects to build your skills. 📒 3. Set realistic goals. For instance, commit to applying for at least 2 jobs a day. Small, consistent steps can lead to significant progress over time. 🚦 Remember, every step you take is a step towards your future. Stay curious, be proactive, and keep pushing forward. 🚀 Thank you to Slenky for giving Kallure the opportunity to be part of this! With UK Black Comms Network recent One Step Forward, Two Steps Black report showing that over two-thirds (68%) of Black and Mixed-Black communications professionals have considered leaving the PR industry. It reaffirms just how important it is for us to be present in spaces like the TYS Zone. It provides insight into the communications world while allowing more young black girls access to information that will help them enter a career in the PR industry. 💜 #TakeYourShot #YouthOpportunities #CareerAdvice #Kallure #WembleyStadium #BrentCouncil
Last week, Slenky unveiled the ‘Take Your Shot Zone’ in collaboration with the ‘Brent Works Wembley Job Fair’ at Wembley Stadium. Our aim was to modernise the traditional careers event by transitioning it to a more accessible and sustainable digital format, allowing opportunity seekers to use their mobile devices to connect with employers and businesses offering opportunities. ...we also unveiled the latest upgrades to the Slenky platform and app...
