OK, I have to be honest here... Going out on your own and starting a business isn't always a great idea. I am not disagreeing with Justin; I am just saying starting your own business is not always the right thing to do - AT THIS TIME! I have to honestly admit that I learned a great deal helping to build someone else's business; it was an amazingly beneficial experience. Except, that's just it; it was an experience in my life - it wasn't my life's work, it doesn't define me, who I am, or what I am capable of. However, it sure as hell has helped me to build a better business at this stage in my life! Armed with that experience, I embarked on my own to stake my claim and build my business. Working for someone else isn't bad, as long as you don't allow yourself to become trapped (which is very easy). It is a great way to make some money while you learn as long as you are learning and growing. If you just take a J.O.B. and don't learn or grow, then it would not be something I would recommend. I worked for a few good and one great company that truly helped me learn and develop my skills. Skills that, as a business coach today, allow me to realize many business owners are lacking because they didn't get that same experience. That doesn't mean that they can't learn this later; however, it is much harder to make a cake when you are missing key ingredients. My point is that starting your own business is an excellent endeavor and everyone should attempt it IMHO. However, not everyone has all the necessary skills and taking a role with a company where they would learn key skills to improve their odds to be successful isn't a BAD idea. Ultimately, the real risk is staying stagnant and not taking control of your future. Building something of your own not only offers financial freedom but also personal fulfillment and can be one of the most amazing life experiences but it can also come with a great deal of challenges and is not for the faint of heart. Once upon a time it was nearly impossible for a typical person to gather the capital, knowledge workers, and know how to start a company. Those days are long over and yet we still subscribe to the system that was created to support masses of groveling people. Many if not most F500 companies don’t even stay in business long enough to have a full career at one company any more. Want to talk about loyalty? Show me a company that takes action to avoid layoffs and I will show you a company that might actually care about it employees enough to deserve loyalty. They nearly don’t exist any more. If you have a job the company you work for is the only “client” you have. Loose that client and you loose literally everything. Have a business with 1,000 customers and have 100 of them come and go every month for non business related reasons? One of them isn’t satisfied for some random reason? Whooptiedo!!! Who cares. These days having a job is taking a risk, may you choose wisely.

Corporate job vs Entrreprenurship, which is the riskier venture? With the lack of loyalty in large corps I would argue because you have more control in your own business, a corp job may be the riskier venture.

Want more energy? Stop worrying about the OUTCOME (things outside of your control). Yes, it can be triggering to think about impending layoffs, what that person thinks of you, and where the country is headed. But you don’t have control over your organization, other people, or the world. You have control over your EFFORT- your values, your mindsets, and your actions. Reclaim that power and DECIDE where to put your time and attention. You’ll be amazed at how much better you feel when you let go of things outside of your control. Layoffs abound. Companies close. The message resounds… “No one is safe!” “Start your side hustle.” “Control your destiny.” Not bad advice. Here’s better advice. Love people. People over position. Community over company. “I gave my life to the firm and what did they do? They let me go!” Never give your life to a firm or a company. Most companies don’t recognize or realize your contribution. They’re not supposed to. Their goal is profit, not people. I don’t mean that bad or sad or mad. Instead: Love people.  Serve others. All over the place - not just at work. Then, if the layoff or shutoff comes, you’ll have dozens, if not hundreds of people to reach out to for the assist. Today in the Weekly Triangle: layoffs, your well-being and companies. Spoiler: no company is going to priotitize your well-being. Companies are entities driven by their own interests, goals, and survival. This is not about being cynical, this is about recognizing reality and using it to fuel your drive towards self-sufficiency and entrepreneurship. So what to do, in these times of layoffs and uncertainty? First, ask yourself this question: ☝🏼 If no company is going to prioritize your well-being, how can you take steps today to build a future where you are not dependent on any single entity for your success? Let me explain: You are in control, whether you are running a business or working within a company. This is about ownership, creating leverage, and never forgetting that in the grand chessboard of business, the most powerful piece you can play is 💥yourself 💥. What you can do: 1️⃣ Focus on creating value on your own terms. Don't wait for a company to recognize your worth or to provide for your needs. 💡 This might mean starting your own business, investing in learning new skills, or creating a personal brand that opens up opportunities. 2️⃣ In a world where companies won't lose sleep over your career progression, your relationships with people become your greatest asset. Companies might not lie awake thinking about you, but if you can position yourself as someone who provides indispensable value, you'll always find doors opening. 💡 How can you solve problems, add value, and differentiate yourself? What's the one thing that's effortless to you, but a burden for others - there it is. Capitalize on that.  Learn new things, reconnect with people, find your strengths.
