#PennWest - It’s been less than two years since PennWest California, PennWest Edinboro, and PennWest Clarion merged, brought on by years of enrollment downturns and financial concerns. Though they may appear united, the three campuses continue to face their own unique strengths and weaknesses. While #enrollment plunges have occurred at all three #campuses, on-campus housing decline rates varied by #campus. Application-wise, the #California campus has seen a boost in applications, while interest in #Edinboro and #Clarion has diminished. Here's a look at 2023 vs 2019: *PennWest Overall is down 6% - 8,088 vs 8,617 *California is up 22% - 3,800 vs 3,105 *Clarion is down 28% - 1,900 vs 2,640 *Edinboro is down 27% - 2,100 vs 2,872 University officials are hopeful that enrollment downturns will turn around soon. Officials project that enrollment will continue to decrease in 2024, but anticipate growth during the following three years. New state funding in Arizona will help reduce the cost of dual enrollment courses and we couldn't be more excited! Research from Helios Education Foundation shows that students who participate in dual enrollment are more than twice as likely to attend college. It's time to start promoting the 2023-2024 Reflections Program! This year’s theme is “I am Hopeful Because…” Updated Deadline: November 30, 2023 Email me @ [email protected] Right now is the perfect time for students to start thinking about and/or creating their entry(s). Here is what you can do now: * Start by putting an announcement in your student bulletin. * Print out the promotional poster and post them around your schools: * Hang posters in areas where parents will see the announcement. * Inspire students! This is a GREAT Thanksgiving Break activity. * Encourage students to create their entry based upon the theme & let them know that they can fill out the official California PTA entry form later. * Ask teachers to promote Reflections, and agree to give students extra credit in the fall for submitting an entry. * Set your due dates now to ensure ample time for submissions. Here are the dates to keep in mind: 1. Suggested Unit (schools) turn in date – November 30, 2023 2. The District turn in date will be Friday, December 7, 2023.
