The information that the Journal of Community Safety and Well-Being publishes, shares and supports positive dialog in the policing industry. As mission supporter, please take a moment to review their past and upcoming journals. "Our Mission: To advance knowledge, evidence and dialogue to support the considered adoption of public policy, the sustainability of related practices, and the best principles of multi-sector collaboration, at the intersections among health, education, human services and criminal justice systems. Our core principles are reflected in the four primary Editorial Sections that further underpin this mission: Trust, Strengths, Services and Justice." We've gotten some really valuable feedback so far on the new draft of Memorial's Public Engagement Framework. Follow the links in The Office of Public Engagement, Memorial University's post if you want to add yours!
Over the past six months, the Office of Public Engagement (OPE) has been asking Memorial students, faculty, staff, and public/community partners what they would like to see in a renewed version of the Public Engagement Framework. Using the input that we’ve gathered, and working with a Steering Committee including folks from across the province, OPE has created a draft version of a new framework. Did we get it right? You can read the draft (and learn more about the process) here: https://shorturl.at/aluLT. You're invited to share your thoughts by emailing [email protected]. Input will be accepted until May 31st, 2024.

Every year, we host our annual Night Out for Safety and Liberation as a space for folks to imagine what safety looks like without policing. This year is no exception. Join us this Tuesday, August 1, from 6-9 outside of Austin City Hall! And guess what? The Austin city budget is also on the same day, and they want to send us back to the 90s, a time defined by over-policing and mass criminalization. They're calling it a "Back to Basics" budget. If you do not want a “Back to Basics” budget -- and instead want to move forward with root-cause solutions to Austin’s most urgent problems, register against the Austin City Budget. This budget is opposed by dozens of local groups who came together to offer the “Community Investment Budget” instead. Let's pack the room and demand for a just budget! Night Out for Safety and Liberation August 1, 2023 6:00 pm - 9:00pm Location: Austin City Hall 301 W 2nd St, Austin, TX 78701 RSVP today! https://lnkd.in/gNMsMUfG Testify Against Austin City Budget August 1, 2023 Testimony begins at 3 PM Location: Austin City Hall 301 W 2nd St, Austin, TX 78701 Note: Registration closes Monday 7/31 @ 12 PM!
