After five years of running retreats where I get to practice my cooking side hustle, I have finally relented, and will give a cooking demonstration at our next retreat 🥑 🌶 🍆
I'll confess, I'm nervous 😱
Why, I hear you ask. And if it's such a big deal, why bother?
While I love presenting and public speaking, there's a massive difference between behavioral shift and julienning vegetables. I’m not sure how I'm going to maintain eye contact and not lose a finger 🔪 I’m not sure how to make it fun. I’m not sure how to keep people engaged and involved… 😴
Admittedly these are challenges that constantly face me in my day job. Other than the risk of finger loss, of course. So any tips on how to bring food to life for a bunch of people would be greatly appreciated.
As to why I’m doing this, that’s easier. I’m not comfortable doing this, so I should. It will be an experience and I will learn. I have the raw ingredients – the knowledge, the skills, etc. – so I should be able to do this well. It’s also something that people have asked for (repeatedly) which makes me think there are still gaps in the food market.
I also love food, and am always bemused by how few people like to (or even can) cook. What better way to break down barriers than to share food? What better place to share food than at a yoga retreat, where everyone is looking for a way to relax, recharge, and reconnect with themselves and others? 🧘♂️
I'll be chopping, dicing, grating, bashing (my favorite) some cool ingredients to make interesting, healthy and fast recipes. We’ll look at the background and nutritional aspects of the dishes and wash the whole shebang down with a glass or two of wine 🍷 And, me being me, I’ll throw in a few silly stories to keep people entertained.
So if you want to see me really “on the spot” with something new, join us at Permafarma!
Folks, the next retreat just dropped 💖 A whole weekend of yoga, food, cooking, food, fruit picking, eating, food and some snacks. And if that's not tempting enough, our dear chef Michael Bolan will be sharing some of his secrets during a cooking demonstration 😋 (and I will also lead some really nice yoga classes too) 🧘
So if you like
a.) eating
b.) yoga and wellness
c.) beautiful nature and fresh air
d.) time for yourself with ZERO responsibilities
Then this might just be for you 🫵
When: 2-4 October 2024
Where: Permafarma, Veselice (about 50 minutes from Prague)

GM Shashona Yoga Body Series 10 Episode 1: Dining Room Don’ts!
Redefining Luxury for modern life, based on over 6,000 years of Asian Science of Feng Shui from GM Shashona
Founder at FoodYoga | Combining Power of Yoga with Ancient Food and Sharing it with the World - One Snack at a Time | Serial Entrepreneur | Food Enthusiast | Traveler | Yogi | CPG | Health & Wellness
Dear America,
I've spent the past 5 months immersed in the world of yoga, visiting 600 studios and health centers from coast to coast.
And I observed an extremely surprising DISCONNECT:
Countless yogis seeking holistic wellness still reach for processed snacks after practice.
While yoga boosts energy and nourishes the body, 36 million Yogis unintentionally negate those benefits with unhealthy post-practice choices.
I’ve been on both sides, experienced the processed snacks and healthy ones, and here’s my take.
When we ignore healthy yogic Nutrition post-practice, here’s what happens:
- We lose out on sustaining the energy levels yoga aims to boost
- We lose out on muscle recovery and body nourishment.
- We lose out on the overall physical benefits of yoga
- We lose out on the potential of holistic wellness.
- We lose out on mental clarity and calmness.
We lose out on every damn benefit yoga is supposed to give us through food.
We disconnect between the mindful practice of yoga and the post-practice food because of the choices we make.
This disconnect is what I aim to bridge.
The potential here is immense. Not just for business growth, but for a cultural shift towards better, more mindful eating habits post-yoga.
I’m here to make that happen.
America is exploring new ways to live healthily. I want to be a part of the story.

🧘♀️The art of Yoga- A chef’s perspective🧘♀️
As a pastry chef with passion for yoga, I've come to view cooking not just as a culinary art but as a practice that harmonizes body, mind, and spirit. In my journey of 2 years of practising yoga, I've discovered that the principles of balance, mindfulness, and nourishment can be seamlessly woven into the majestic world of pastry.
Just as yoga teaches us to be present in each breath, a pastry kitchen requires one to be mindful and patient at all times. Through desserts that evoke joy and celebration, I connect with others on a deeper level, sharing moments of sweetness that transcend mere food.
From the precision of measurements to the art of presentation, every pastry I create reflects a journey of mindfulness, creativity, and love. May we all find balance, both on the mat and in the kitchen, as we embrace the beauty of yoga and the sweetness of life.

🌟 🧘♀️Happy International Yoga Day 2024! 🧘♀️🌟
This year's theme, "Yoga for Self and Society," resonates deeply as we explore the profound impact of yoga on both individual well-being and community harmony.
🧘♀️ *Yoga and Nutrition:A Perfect Synergy* 🥗
Practicing yoga goes hand in hand with mindful eating. Here are a few insights on how they complement each other:
1. Mindful Eating: Yoga encourages mindfulness, which can extend to our eating habits. Being present while eating helps us make healthier food choices and appreciate the nourishment our food provides.
2. Balanced Diet: Just as yoga aims to balance the body and mind, a balanced diet is essential for maintaining that equilibrium. Incorporate a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins to fuel your practice.
3. Hydration: Staying hydrated is crucial for any physical activity, including yoga. Drinking enough water supports digestion and overall health.
4. Detoxifying Foods: Yoga promotes detoxification through various poses and breathing techniques. Complement this with foods that support detoxification, like leafy greens, citrus fruits, and green tea.
5. Post-Yoga Nutrition: After a session, refuel with a light, nutritious snack. Consider a smoothie with leafy greens, fruits, and a source of protein to restore energy and aid muscle recovery.
Let's celebrate this International Yoga Day by embracing the holistic benefits of yoga and nutrition for ourselves and our communities. Together, we can foster a healthier, more connected world. 🌍🧘♂️🥗

Imagine a workplace where each individual is not merely a cog in the machinery of tasks but a vibrant thread contributing to the vibrant fabric of the team. Welcoming others with open hearts and minds sets the stage for a collaborative symphony, where every note, every idea, resonates and enriches the collective melody.
Being seen and heard goes beyond the superficial acknowledgment of presence; it's a recognition of individual worth and potential. In a world often bustling with noise, the act of truly listening becomes a rare gem, fostering an environment where ideas flourish, and creativity knows no bounds.
Valuing each other extends beyond the professional realm; it's an acknowledgment of the unique strengths and qualities that make us who we are. In a supportive atmosphere, individuals not only thrive in their roles but also grow as multifaceted beings, contributing not just skills but the richness of their personalities.
Love, in this context, isn't confined to romantic notions but embodies the genuine care and respect we extend to our colleagues. It's the essence of camaraderie that transforms a workplace into a community, where challenges are faced together, triumphs are celebrated collectively, and bonds are forged that withstand the test of time.
Support, the cornerstone of this mantra, is the pillar that holds up the entire structure. It's the willingness to lend a hand, share knowledge, and uplift others, creating a network of empowerment. A supported individual is not just productive; they are inspired, confident, and motivated to reach new heights.
In applying this philosophy, we don't just create a positive work environment; we craft a way of life. The reverberations of our actions extend far beyond the professional realm, influencing the overall well-being of individuals and fostering a culture that transcends the mundane.
So, let us be intentional architects of positivity, weaving the threads of welcome, acknowledgment, value, love, and support into the very fabric of our interactions. In doing so, we not only enrich the lives of those around us but also contribute to the creation of a harmonious world—one where the echoes of kindness and understanding resound, making every moment truly extraordinary.

Reflecting on a past yoga class, the teacher regaled us with a lovely quote shared frequently on social media yet not always practiced in our world. It is what a lot of fellow hospitality enthusiasts and devotees live by, many of whom will descend onto Las Vegas for the Forbes Travel Guide#FTGSummit this week for a celebration of servitude and excellence as well as continued learning, growth, and evolution.
May this quote serve as a gentle reminder of what is at the core of hospitality, genuine care and concern for one another. My sincere and most heartfelt gratitude to all those who continue to embrace this quote and infuse positivism, no matter what. Thank you so much. You make all the difference.

🌟International Yoga Day: Unlocking the Power of Mind-Body Connection through Healthy Eating
Today, on International Yoga Day, we celebrate the ancient practice of yoga that has been transforming lives for thousands of years. As we honor this sacred tradition, let's also highlight the often-overlooked yet crucial aspect of healthy eating, which is an essential component of a well-rounded yoga practice.
Yoga is not just about the physical postures (asanas) or breathing techniques (pranayama), but also about cultivating awareness and harmony between the body, mind, and spirit. A healthy diet plays a vital role in supporting our physical and mental well-being, allowing us to deepen our yoga practice and reap its many benefits.
Here are some ways in which healthy eating can enhance your yoga journey:
Energy and Endurance: A balanced diet rich in whole foods, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains provides the necessary energy for a strong and sustained practice.
Flexibility and Strength: Adequate protein intake helps build and maintain muscle mass, while a diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids supports joint health and flexibility.
Reduced Inflammation: A diet high in anti-inflammatory foods such as turmeric, ginger, and berries can help alleviate inflammation, a common issue for yogis who engage in intense physical practice.
Mindful Eating: Savoring each bite and paying attention to hunger and fullness cues can foster greater mindfulness, a key principle of yoga philosophy.
Some of our favorite healthy food staples that support a yogic lifestyle include:
✓Leafy greens like spinach and kale for added energy and detoxification
✓Berries for antioxidant-rich snacking
✓Avocados for healthy fats and creaminess
✓Quinoa for protein-packed meals
Herbs like turmeric and ginger for anti-inflammatory benefits
As we celebrate International Yoga Day, let's also commit to nourishing our bodies with wholesome foods that align with our values of compassion, kindness, and self-care. By combining yoga with healthy eating, we can experience greater balance, vitality, and overall well-being.
Happy International Yoga Day! May your practice be strengthened by every bite
