Should we be thankful on New Year's Day? If we should, why? First of all, absolutely we should be thankful on New Year’s Day. In fact, we should be thankful every day of the year. Why? Having an attitude of gratitude produces… ✅ Generosity ✅ Motivation ✅ Friendships ✅ Success The list could go on and on. New year’s day is a perfect time to take stock of all the blessings and challenges that you have experienced the previous year. Even the hard times in our lives make us stronger so don’t skip over them. So, carve out some time to reflect today to be thankful and get energized for the new year. I hope you have a great 2024! ✳️ What are you thankful for in 2023? For me, I was blessed with 2 amazing trips with my family that brought us closer together. A trip to the middle east (Egypt, Jordan and Israel) and a Christmas cruise (Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, Puerto Rico, and St. Thomas Island). The destinations were amazing but spending this kind of quality time with my family was priceless! Also, year 1 of my business was both successful and challenging to create a business model that will become sustainable in year 2. I want to hear yours. 2023 is wrapping up and what a year it’s been for the mortgage banking and housing finance industry. For CEOs, Managing Directors, CFOs, SVPs, risk managers, and strategy officers, the ground under our feet seemed to shift as we grappled with very low residential mortgage origination volume, bank failures, regulatory changes, and volatile asset values. Everything seemed monumental as we made the decisions our enterprises needed made. As the calendar turns, let’s reflect on how we handled it and look forward to what comes next. Show you’re proud of your industry and colleagues. Embrace your community and family. Let’s put 2023 to rest, 2024 is going to require even greater focus.

This past work week, Pablo Posada and I took on a big challenge: covering for Daniel Mendez who went on vacation for his birthday 🎉. We were "fully" prepared—studying the accounts, following instructions, and getting ready *or so we thought 😅 for what was coming. But as expected, the first day brought chaos 🌪️. Unexpected things happened, clients got difficult, and we faced challenges even the account owner hadn’t anticipated. So what did we do? -Regrouped: We huddled and quickly re-evaluated the situation. -Planned: Adjusted our approach based on the new issues that popped up. -Collaborated: Communicated clearly with each other to stay aligned. -Adapted: We handled customer challenges with flexibility and focus. -Followed up consistently: Made sure no customer issue was left unresolved until every loop was closed ✅. We still have two more days of this frenzy, but I’m confident we’ve got it now 💼! These challenges have strengthened our problem-solving skills, teamwork, and resilience. I’m excited to continue pushing through with great support from our strategy and leadership teams! Enabling us to continue delivering results for our clients—no matter the chaos!
