Exciting update for our Lunchbox Literacy campaign! Our second drop off is complete 🥪🍽 Our teams have collected over 535 items to donate to Gwinnett County students in need. We are incredibly grateful for our peers' continued generosity and for our Atlanta Booster Club's coordination of this event. Our next collection is on July 8th, and we can't wait to see even more donations to help change students' lives. Go team! #engineeringforcause #philanthropy #foodinsecurity #studentlunches #fooddonations

According to an analysis released yesterday in conjunction with a project called BIG JOY, people who engage in daily acts of #kindness or #gratitude experience a lift in emotional well-being, positive emotions like hope and optimism, become happier and have improved relationships. This #nationalphilanthropyday, what act can you do that will lift your spirits? Need an idea? Check out how you can help your community through your local DG store below! (More on the Big Joy project: https://lnkd.in/gA7k3rs6)
From DG’s Feeding America partnership to our St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Thanks and Giving campaign, this #nationalphilanthropyday we celebrate the many ways our teams exhibit the Company’s mission of #ServingOthers. For the upcoming holiday season, join us in exhibiting kindness as we collect toys for local nonprofits to distribute to children in need at each of our ~20,000 stores through December 8. Dollar General is here for what matters and will also be donating $100,000 to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Last week, Anick Silencieux from Support Black Charities shared a workshop with our team on Black Philanthropy in Canada. One central theme throughout Anick’s presentation was the importance of uplifting and elevating your community. This is a common motivation for why people give, and it left us with some reflections that we wanted to share with you: 👉 What does elevating my community mean to me? 👉 How can I incorporate elevating my community into my charitable giving? 👉 What steps can I take to get started?

Donor Advised Funds are too often shrouded in mystery and frustration for nonprofit fundraisers, leaving them with some burning questions. 🔥 We answered as many as we could in a recent discussion we joined with Association of Fundraising Professionals - New York City Chapter (AFP-NYC), and put together a recap of the best answers to the 5 most common questions: 1️⃣ How exactly do we ask for DAF gifts? 2️⃣ We’ve never had a DAF strategy - where do I start? 3️⃣ What can we do to make sure we’re set up correctly to receive gifts from different DAFs? 4️⃣ Are DAFs really that common? Isn’t it just the mega rich who use them? 5️⃣ How can we connect with more DAFs & DAF donors? If any of these thoughts have crossed your mind, be sure and check out this week’s blog post! https://lnkd.in/eA-tGQ5X #nonprofit #philanthropy #fundraising #donoradvisedfunds

Fundraising Consultant | Helping mid-sized nonprofit teams ($1-5MM) communicate their story to donors so they raise more money and have more impact.
From streaming services to your favorite food to your door to ride services. We’ve grown accustomed to instant availability. Not all things can be attained instantly though. 👉Professional services, like marketing and fundraising, often require a longer ramp-up period before they produce results. If you’re an organization that relies on immediate outcomes, that can be really frustrating. But please remember, donors are people, not piggy banks. There is no magic phrase, formula, or strategy that is going to make people give to you other than building trust in your relationships over time. Sometimes that trust is built quickly. Sometimes it’s not. Tomorrow I am going to talk about 3 ways for fundraisers to “feel the win” even while you’re waiting for those big end results. - Hi, I’m Madeline McCoy Let’s talk #fundraising, #marketing, and #nonprofit
I wanted to share a bit from a webinar I attended yesterday. Donors take their time to make major gifts. According to data from Blackbaud, the average first contact to first major gift is 7.8 years, almost twice as long as the average development officer's tenure at an organization. It takes time to earn the trust of a donor. It takes time to find their passion. It takes time.... Donors aren't ATMs, so don't treat them like they are. #philanthropy #fundraising

If one isn't working or involved in the nonprofit/philanthropic sector, they may not know about it or be familiar with it. The Council on Foundations hosted a recent webinar about the findings in a report from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy about what Americans think about philanthropy and nonprofits. In our most recent blog post, we highlight three takeaways from the webinar as well as the opportunities and challenges ahead for the charitable sector as it seeks to do good. https://lnkd.in/gbrMSnNd
