"Don't take our word for it" - Reading Rainbow And by that I mean, check out what the options are before a quick fix is looked at as the only option.

Fun chatting with Kent Richeson about Crew. Would love to hear your thoughts about how to teach kids about investing. Some of my quick thoughts: - As an adult you probably only want to invest money that you aren't planning to need in the short term. For a kid that generally would mean they have nothing to invest, but you still want to teach them the principles. - The most important principles are probably around passive investment, taking a long term view, avoiding daily checkins on fluctuation on price, and continuously setting aside money. - Want to know how to identify and avoid get rich quick/ponzi schemes schemes with impossibly high returns. - But! You also want to figure out a way to adapt to a child's attention span or time horizon. For instance you may need to manufacturer amazing/unrealistic returns for your very young child to teach them to delay gratification. "If you set keep $10 in your savings for a month I'll give you another $10". As always, the best way to teach is probably to model good behavior for them to emulate.

Hi Fellow Seafarer's! Today's #CrewTip is all about being a supportive friend when a crew member is feeling down or in need of a chat: "If a crew member is feeling down or needs to talk, be a caring friend, lend a listening ear, and offer a helping hand when they need it." Here are 3 simple ways to provide comfort and support: 1. Be a Caring Friend: Just as you'd appreciate a friendly face in a new port, be a caring friend to your crewmate. Let them know you're there for them and that you care about their well-being. 2. Lend a Listening Ear: Like hearing the tales of the sea, lend a compassionate and attentive ear. Encourage your crewmate to share their thoughts and feelings, and offer a non-judgmental space for them to express themselves. 3. Offer a Helping Hand: In times of need, be ready to offer your assistance and support. Like hoisting the anchor together, your helping hand can lighten their load and make them feel better. Your shipboard community is like a close-knit crew. Maybe offer them some soup or help with their work. They'll appreciate your kindness!" 🌊🤗🤒 Here are 3 simple ways to provide support when a crew mate is feeling unwell: 🥣 1. Offer Comfort: Just as you'd offer a warm blanket, provide comfort by offering to make them soup or any nourishing meal. It's a thoughtful gesture that shows you care. 🤝 2. Lend a Hand: Like adjusting the sails to catch the wind, lend a hand with their tasks or duties if they're feeling too unwell to work. Your help will ease their burden. 💖 3. Show Understanding: Be understanding and patient. Just as you'd appreciate support when you're not feeling your best, your sick crew mate will also value your kindness and consideration. Crew morale and how valuable that is… Through heavy seasons and long trips it can be so hard to keep crew going. I remember doing charter and just waiting for the end to go out and then spend my day off hungover 🤷🏼♀️ Now? I value going out to see the local spots, trying the cuisine and spending quality time together as a team. The difference? A team. A good captain and the ability to call eachother out on these self destructive habits. We push eachother to get fitter, learn more and try new things. What things do you find valuable for crew morale?
