It’s Friday, maybe a little late to be posting on LI, but it’s purposeful! You still have time - today is #employeeappreciationday if you did not know… It’s not about the coffee, bagels, signs, or the pizza! It’s about genuine appreciation, and not today, but every day. I am a little behind on writing some thank you’s from a big birthday over a month ago, but they will go out. I recall getting back some comments on an engagement survey a couple years back - “a nice thank you note would be great now and then” from the shop floor. Do it! Get some notes and write them from the bottom of your heart. Tell your team and colleagues, not just superficially, “I appreciate you”, but exactly what for. And in place of the pizza - who does that anymore anyway? Know your team, what do they love, what has impact? • I saw one org write they were doing “keto option” breakfast, fit for gluten free and showed care for health and well-being • Another was plan this Friday afternoon (today) off, whole Co. - planned earlier last week • A few years back, I had a VP of a division ask for thank you notes (where he could get them) and wrote 300 thank you’s to the team members in his division - he knew them and they knew him. He challenged his managers to stop and do the same. What are you doing today? There are still a couple hours left. What do you do every day to appreciate your team? Tell them today and every day. Yes, what does it feel like to be on the other side of you? #modeltheway #bethechange #leadingbyexample
