Passionate Perfectionist | Extroverted Introvert | I help neurodivergents thrive and businesses to think differently. Autistic ADHDer diagnosed in my 40s
Today is the start of Neurodiversity Celebration Week 🎉 We’ve got a VERY busy and exciting week ahead of us at Perfectly Autistic with lots of talks, webinars, workshops and a panel discussion from Hester for ND Celebration Week. 💥 Remember... ✅ It is really important not to stereotype individuals based on their diagnosis. For example, not all autistic people are maths geniuses and it’s not true that all people with ADHD can’t sit still. ✅ To coin a phrase "Once you have met one neurodivergent person, you have met one neurodivergent person”. This means you can’t assume that one neurodivergent person will be like another. ✅ Everyone’s experiences of neurodiversity are different, everyone will have different strengths and challenges and this goes for all neurodivergent individuals. #diversityandinclusion #neurodiversityatwork #neurodiversitycelebrationweek

EXPLORING SPECIAL NEEDS .....5 Rahman walked into the clinic with his son, Ali, in tow, eager to seek answers about his developmental concerns. Shan: Hi Rahman, Hi Ali! extends hand for a high five Ali's attention is immediately drawn to the colorful kitchen set in the corner of the clinic, his curiosity piqued. Shan: Oh, it looks like Ali's got a passion for cooking! Che che (glances at the clinic nurse) will join you in your kitchen adventures, Ali. Rahman: Hi Shan, here's the referral letter from our family doctor. What's the next step? Shan: Well Rahman, first I'll observe Ali playing for about 20 minutes. Then, I'll administer the Denver Developmental Screening Test II to assess his developmental level. Rahman: Developmental level? Shan: Exactly. Ali is 3 years old, so we want to understand if he's functioning at the level expected for his age or if he's ahead or behind. That's what we mean by developmental level. Rahman: Ah, I see. Shan: While I do that, could you please fill out this checklist? It's the M-CHAT, Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers. It helps us screen for Autism Spectrum Disorder. As Rahman takes a seat to fill out the checklist, Shan begins his observation of Ali's play. To be continued... #play #childdevelopment photocredit: Lollipop Millennium

As a rare intersection of creative director, tech-enthusiast, and educator, I make AIs more creative and help people become confident with it.
I got into the Buildspace accelerator! For the next six weeks, I'll be diving into a project I kicked off, mixing AI and ADHD. Attention is all you need, both for LLMs and for someone with ADHD. What if we could harness AI's focus to aid those with an attention deficit? cc: buildspace

This is a great webinar and I highly recommend watching it if you want to learn more about neuro-affirming approaches and early supports. Thanks Therapy Focus!
Yesterday, Kiind, in collaboration with Therapy Focus, hosted a webinar as part of our Wisdom Webinar series to highlight the highly individualised nature of autism and the importance of embracing a neuro-affirming approach through early support. Thank you to the Therapy Focus team for sharing your insights and to all the families that attended. It was great to hear from presenters, Senior Speech Pathologist and Autism Diagnostician, Emily Turner, and Senior Speech Pathologist and Autistic Services Project Officer Kelly Scott, who shared her lived experience as 'AuDHD' (Autistic and ADHD). If you couldn’t make it, we’ll be sharing the recording of the webinar very soon – stay tuned!

One type of play-based therapy is “Theraplay” which aims to structure and enhance attachment, self-confidence, trust in others, and joyful connection. Rooted in natural patterns of enjoyable and healthy interactions between caregivers and children. Benefiting from the therapeutic advantages of joyful play and sensitive care, Theraplay focuses on enhancing children and caregiver bond and mutual understanding, ultimately eliminating the need for problematic behaviors. Caregivers, as the most significant figures in a child's life, actively participate in the sessions with the guidance of a trained therapist in a safe environment. Scientific research provides promising results about this play-based therapy. At Autism Dome, we offer educational videos that focus on Theraplay techniques, designed to empower caregivers with the knowledge and skills needed to enhance the caregiver-child relationship. The aim is to provide valuable insights into Theraplay's approach, aiming to reduce autism spectrum symptoms and promote a stronger, more meaningful bond between caregivers and children. #Autism #Theraplay #Playtherapy #Children #MentalHealth #AutismSpectrum #Play

Did you know that, on average, it takes several years for individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions to receive a diagnosis? In light of this, it's crucial to raise awareness and advocate for improved diagnostic processes and support systems for neurodiverse individuals! Neurodiversity Week is not just about awareness; it's about action!
