Unfortunately, the Vera Institute of Justice has presented a fallacy of facts in workforce operationalization and reconditioning. As a nation, the judiciary, elected officials, and advocacy groups must recognize the crucial aspects of workforce management and the methodological approaches required to examine each system. Whether actions are due in part to litigation or as a part of a broad spectrum of analysis by committees, a comprehensive approach is essential to provide ethical cures to criminal justice reforms. The scope of the examination must include, but not be limited to, compliance with the rule of law within policies & procedures by leadership in decision-making processes, on standards of measure provided by the government, by direct supervision, and by oversight bodies constituted to monitor the quality of service within a workforce, in its operationalization. When efficaciously administered, the quality of service in workforce orchestration can redress conditions from their current state to levels that can comprehensively transcend to address challenges within current and future budgetary outlays as systems are built in furtherance of truths to sustain constitutionally. Upon examination, prerequisites must provide for the necessary tasks & standards that are absolute in measure, comprehensive in detail, and absent of prejudice to resolutely transition away from conditions ill-suited in governance as adequate forms of rehabilitation and detention. Conditions that abridge the rights of the incarcerated and, through political conjecture, as being applied by the Vera Institute of Justice in this study, can apply divisive theorems with the shadings of truth as inefficacious budgetary assumptions unduly divest and fail to adequately sustain governance to ensure each civil servant workforce is well-constituted and administered absent measures to manage critical service gaps. Rights deprived under the color of law as institutions fail to perform the tasks and standards required to recover from chronic symptoms of a constitutional decline. This study is given a failing grade based on the absence of subject matter experts.

Working in the field of corrections can be incredibly stressful and draining due to the constant exposure to negativity and challenging situations. Despite these difficulties, it is important to strive to be the change we want to see. By remaining consistent, staying focused, and actively working to outshine the negativity, we can make a positive impact on those around us. One of the most fulfilling aspects of working in corrections is the opportunity to mold the youth and shape the future. By instilling positive values, offering guidance, and serving as role models, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of those under our care. It is essential to maintain a positive attitude, show compassion, and lead by example in order to help those in our charge navigate difficult circumstances and find a path towards rehabilitation and success. While the field of corrections may present numerous challenges, it also offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of others. Oh, the exquisite irony of lecturing the Department of Correction on "overspending" while proposing we fund workforce transition programs for officers! It’s touching, really, that Vera Institute of Justice and their expert panel have suddenly discovered compassion for corrections officers who’ve been deemed “overstaffed” — a term no doubt conceived by those who've never set foot in a chaotic jail environment. The grand revelation that the move to borough-based facilities will reduce demand for officers is nothing short of genius. Clearly, designing smaller, more scattered jails will eliminate the need for an experienced, substantial workforce. Why? Because those pristine new jails will run themselves, right? Forget that managing detention facilities, however designed, still requires a robust and seasoned staff to ensure safety and order — concepts evidently foreign to your ivory-towered consultancy. The idea that corrections work is merely "a rare path to financial stability for those without a college degree" is a quaint oversimplification. Did it ever cross your mind that some officers might actually find value and meaning in their roles beyond just the paycheck? Or is that too complex a notion for your academic exercise in workforce transitioning? It's heartwarming that you’ve interviewed a whole 30 officers and consulted “experts” on career transitions. Bravo! But let's be real: throwing money at transition programs under the guise of fiscal prudence and compassion is laughably transparent. You suggest that funding these programs “before Rikers’ closure” is essential. Perhaps your urgency stems from a fear that, once Rikers is gone, we might notice the gaping void left by the very officers you’re so eager to discard. So, let’s cut the sanctimonious rhetoric. Instead of concocting thinly-veiled schemes to offload dedicated workers, how about focusing on practical solutions that respect the complexities of their jobs and the challenges they face every day? But then again, that might require genuine insight and a departure from your theoretical comfort zone.

This is so relevant for everyone, the community (those who have been formerly residents of correctional facilities can contribute to the community with less likelihood of returning, reducing costs of incarceration, increasing safety overall because they have jobs), employers (they can find employees who want to work, can contribute to the lives of individuals in a very meaningful way), former residents of correctional facilities (can support themselves, contribute to their families). A real conversation, identifying some of the blocks, barriers, and the opportunities.
