Biking Lily to school every day has been one of the many gifts stemming from launching Rooted Communities and focusing on downtown DC. We aspire to create more housing that is walkable, bikable, and transit accessible. I looked up the #walkscore for one of our immediate redevelopment pursuits this morning and loved seeing the 100 walk-score / 95 ride / 87 transit score around us in Dupont Circle. I tried to convince Lily to take the metro this morning, but she was committed to riding in the rain! She sang "the rain never bothered me anyway" all the way to school. This is quite the change for me after spending most of the past 15 years in an airport everyday! Hope to see you on the sidewalks, streets, and metro around DC. Meaningful action towards a vibrant downtown DC. The proposed Housing In Downtown (HID) tax abatements, permit acceleration, and regulatory relief in the development process will all help move the city forward faster.

Today we launched the Urban Land Institute Washington DC Future Forum. Jordan Goldstein, the incoming co-CEO of Gensler reminds us to enter from a perspective of optimism.
