Do you read signs? Science tell us you don't! As a museum peep, I'm not a huge fan of signs. Do you agree? or are you of the 10% of people that read signs? Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens reminded of me of this stat. I have to confess, YES, there are times I really do read signs but as a leader in the museum industry, I know our guests hardly read them. Here are my tips if you MUST put up a sign... * Opt for a picture that represents the meaning of the words - great for non-english speakers and younger audiences * Change the location and design of the sign often if you can - your guests will only see it the first time, even if the words change but the location and design are the same. * Make the sign a weird shape with large easily readable font. * KEEP IT SIMPLE - even fewer people read signs that are more than 7 words! #noonereadssigns #pictureswork #keepitsimple #inspiredimpact

March 1 and 15 at 11.30-13.30 CET, read more: https://lnkd.in/dhcMAj3q We humans have become more and more isolated from nature. Defining and seeing it as something outside of ourselves. Nature became something we can use for resources, adventures, or quiet time when we need it. A one-directional conversation. Turning this perspective around, how would nature see us? What would it think? This month we will explore natures eyes upon us, using art as a lens through which nature looks at us. We will ask ourselves the question, how can nature communicate with us? And maybe more importantly, are we listening?

📚 Grammar Tip: When to Use "The" 📚 "The" is a versatile article that is used with both singular and plural nouns, countable and uncountable nouns, and specific references. Here are some examples: 1️⃣ "The book that I read last night was great." In this sentence, "book" is a specific, singular, countable noun. 2️⃣ "The books assigned for this class are very useful." Here, "books" is a specific, plural, countable noun. 3️⃣ "The advice you gave me was very helpful." In this case, "advice" is a specific, uncountable noun. In the narrative of a feature I'm writing, I set a pivotal scene in the dimly lit, hushed corridors of a museum’s Egyptian exhibit — this turned the setting into both a protagonist and antagonist within the story. The centerpiece of this atmospheric setup was an ancient Egyptian mummy encased dramatically in its ornate sarcophagus. As my characters navigated this environment, the museum became a formidable obstacle with its eerie echoes and shadows cast by the sparse lighting. The towering statues and rows of artifacts created a labyrinthine maze, while the solemn stillness added a layer of psychological unease. This immersive setting did more than create physical challenges; it drew readers into the depth of the story by amplifying the suspense and intrigue. The presence of the mummy, shrouded in mystery and tales of curses, mirrored the hidden secrets and unresolved tensions among the characters. Each exhibit seemed to watch over the characters, silent witnesses to their whispered conspiracies. The ancient atmosphere, steeped in history and mystery, deepened the narrative, making the reveal timeless and inevitable. Additionally, the museum setting allowed me to explore themes of legacy and mortality. As the characters moved past displays of artifacts that had outlasted their owners by millennia, they confronted their transient place in the world. This heightened the thematic stakes and made the characters’ introspections and revelations more poignant.
