Hot take - the Bureau of Labor Statistics is a mess, and I’m not going to use their “data” anymore. You’ve probably seen headlines each month about US job numbers beating expectations. But have you seen the quiet revisions that happen months afterwards? Job gains in April were revised down to 108k from 165k. Job gains from May were revised down to 218k from 273k. That’s a total of 111,000 jobs that weren’t actually gained, or 34%. 34% is not a rounding error. Is a 2,100-person, 140 year old organization really that bad at what they do, or are they just making up the data? Either way, we deserve better. #Hiring #Recruiting #Statistics #Data
