Bombs, violence, despair - Faida Vumiliya lives with her children in the Bulengo #Refugee Camp in the #DemocraticRepublicofCongo. She and her children had to flee the violence in their home town of Sake. Here she tells us what gives her hope in the camp. Background: Although the civil war officially ended in 2002, ongoing conflicts have internally displaced more than 6.9 million people. The situation in the eastern Congolese city of Goma has worsened dramatically. There has been heavy fighting between the Congolese army and the M23 rebels for months. Due to contaminated water, diseases such as malaria and injuries, #medicalcare is absolutely essential. 📷Aubin Mukoni #humanitarianaid #johanniterinternational

The conflict in Sudan has relied on a tragic practice: the conscription of child soldiers—and yet, the horrors of this war are forgotten by much of the general public. Dr. Suliman Baldo, a leading human rights expert at the Sudan Transparency and Policy Tracker, told the UK Telegraph, “In many instances, you see very young boys being given weapons,” he said. “You’re basically turning them into cannon fodder. They are being sent as a sacrifice for nothing.” We won’t stand to see our children sacrificed. We have room to welcome 51 children into the refuge of the LUV network, but we need help to save more lives. Will you help us rescue more children from war? To offer safety and support to a child in Sudan costs $2,500 annually—approximately $208 per month, $48 a week, or just $6 a day. Caption update: Since October 7th, Israeli forces have killed and injured thousands of Palestinians and displaced over 1.7 million people in Gaza. We source the data for the number of people killed, injured and missing from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza. However, due to the collapse of health and communication systems in Gaza, the MoH hasn’t been able to provide updates on the number of Palestinians killed beyond November 22, and the number of casualties is likely to be much higher than the ones reported. A four-day “humanitarian pause” will not put an end to the unfolding genocide in Gaza. We need a permanent ceasefire, an end to Israel’s 16-year siege on Gaza, and accountability for Israel’s war crimes against the besieged Palestinian population in Gaza. It’s up to us to keep pressuring political leaders to end this genocide: bit.ly/take-action-gaza

Expose the Truth: Every 10 Minutes, #IDF terr0rists Kill a #Child in Gaza Every 10 minutes, a child is killed in #Gaza, according to the #World Health Organization director, #Tedros #Adhanom. This horrifying statistic is more than just a number; it represents countless defenseless and innocent #babies, #children, #women, #men, and the elderly whose lives are being brutally taken. Every single day, we see shocking images on social media depicting this relentless violence. Yet, many politicians and public figures shy away from naming the perpetrators of these atrocities. They use passive language that obscures the reality of who is responsible for the slaughter of innocent children. This evasion is a form of #hypocrisy. Describing such horrific events without holding the criminals accountable is not enough. We must have the courage to speak the truth. Watch the video below and confront the reality: every 10 minutes, idf terr0rists kill a child in Gaza. It's time to point the finger at those committing these heinous acts and demand justice for the innocent lives lost. Be human, be courageous, and call out the #criminals commiting the genocide. #Alleyesonrafah #gaza #biden

Israel has intensified killing of civilians in the last 24h as global support for Palestine increases. The day that these images became trivial has arrived. This is what the mass extermination looks like, is the holocaust of our times. I am wondering if the warmonger namely Ursula von der Leyen and the #EU who supported which such enthusiasm the arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin for war crimes that until now remain open and unclear. In the case of Israel we have thousands of documented cases with hundreds of patients and doctors buried alive. What happened to your democratic principles now? where are your human rights now you hypocrites? Where is the compassion and the support of thousands of children now? https://lnkd.in/d598f7ZS https://lnkd.in/dmkBdigB It is the first time that the west selectively condemns and punishes only crimes of their enemies allowing their allies to commit much worse crimes. Ursula von der Leyen, Olaf Scholz, Josep Borrel, Emmanuel Macron, Mark Rutte the responsibility for the collapse of all European institutions by applying double standards on justice is exclusively yours. Soon you will be called to explain why the #EU refuses to recognize the current systematic extermination of Palestinians as a #genocide. The #EU along with #US and #UK are equally complicit in this crime and the time for your own Nuremberg trials will come soon. https://lnkd.in/d598f7ZS #palestiniangenocide #israeliwarcrimes #icj #un #eu

It has been a shame all the time that donors have stopped funding UNRWA. No significant evidence whatsoever has been presented to motivate a defunding. So when Sweden and Canada is now resuming the transfer of funds, we should of course welcome that. But do not forget that aid practitioners are constantly chasing “evidence” and results” by the same politicians that with no evidence at all can stop the same funding on a whim because their political allies say they should. Possibly thousands of lives have been lost due to the defunding of UNRWA. All(!) humanitarian organisations active in Gaza have demanded that UNRWA must continue to be funded and operational. How come that those voices are not respected? How come that Western governments listen more to the party that for decades constantly has broken Internatonal Humanitarian Law, supported land thefts, destruction of infrastructure to support Palestinians basic needs and jailed thousands, including children, without any trials? The evidence is right in front of us. I hear sometimes Westerners claim it was in Europe the origins of Enlightenment and the birth of the modern liberal democracy was established. However they seem to forget that Europe also has been home to the Holocaust and two world wars. Westerners living in democracies have happily engaged in colonial genocides. The indifference to the plight of the Palestinians in Gaza and West Bank is nothing new. I believe the future writing of history will hold today’s leaders to account. Even if they too late resumed the funding, history will shame them. More importantly, as the 1900s come to a late ending, there are opportunities for a better and more equal world. UNRWA, humanitarians and rights defenders in civil society are in that sense a bridge to that world while, using Gramsci’s words, the monsters fight each other.
Our latest on the situation in the 📍#GazaStrip and the 📍 #WestBank 🔹 Intense Israeli bombardment from air, land & sea continue to be reported across #GazaStrip 🔹 UN Women: 9,000 women reported killed by Israeli forces in #Gaza, not including those believed to be buried under the rubble. 🔹 UNICEF: At least 18 children died from dehydration & malnutrition.
