"Someone with zero experience can turn out to be the best experienced." I definitely started with no experience but I have grown because someone, some persons, an institution, gave me the opportunity. From academic internships, thro work internships, voluntary services etc I have been assigned three times as site supervisor for interns and volunteers. While executing these I observed the following in relation to neophytes 1. A certain *lack* of self esteem/self confidence in relation to tasks these are supposedly expected to deliver Eg having interns/volunteers unable to demonstrate knowledge of basic Microsoft office skills to extent of submitting reports handwritten: low rate of consciousness towards work ethics and sense of professionalism, little efforts towards taking initiatives and collaboration etc. Interns, Volunteers have to be able to understand that institutions are not out of campus structures. These are already work oriented thus they need to be seen as "contributing" rather than "depending" 2. Organizations, though having passed through such a stage, hardly have processes, procedures, policies towards a holistic management of such new team mates to training them and opening them to opportunities. Thus it's often an unfortunate situation where sometimes how much new team mates get to learn tend to depend on the versatility of the supervisor. And in most cases when such new team mates show characteristic of 1 above, it plays negatively on how the institution may treat or manage others that come after. Notwithstanding, 🫴There are corporate bodies that have as policy the acceptance of such persons into their team via the same or more adapted recruitment process. In this case interns or volunteers would have to apply and be engaged and evaluated. This method is good but the issue of cost remains a challenge to the institution saw

🙌 12,000 consultations in just under 2 years: That's how many conversations the employees of the Egyptian-German Centre for Jobs, Migration and Reintegration (EGC) in Cairo had. There is great interest in regular #migration to Germany and the consultations help potential #skilledworkers to identify their individual opportunities on the German labour market. 🤝 However, it is also about training and qualifications in order to increase the chances of finding employment on the local labour market. #Germany and #Egypt work together as equals in this centre and both have an interest in offering the Egyptian population the best possible opportunities on the labour market, both locally and internationally. IOM Mali/private sector/partnerships Partnering with the private sector is crucial to seizing the opportunities of migration. Migration is not just a whole-of-government issue, but a whole-of-society issue. Thus, to harness the potential of human mobility, the private sector is an indispensable partner. In Mali, in line with the new IOM Strategic plan 2024-2028, IOM just signed a cooperation agreement with the President of Mali’s National Employers’ Council (Conseil National du Patronat du Mali, CNPM) Mr Mossadeck BALLY and founder of the Azalaï group, which now operates in Benin, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Mali, and Senegal. A top – down approach that will aim to contribute to better addressing the inadequacy between supply and demand on the labour market in Mali. To this end, joint actions are planned to strengthen training, job placement and skills development, as well as facilitating partnerships to foster opportunities and joint studies. #IOM #ConseilNationalduPatronatduMali #PrivateSector #Partnerships #decentworkopportunities Mossadeck Bally Conseil National du Patronat du Mali CNPM

Giving a political leadership and power to any foreign nationals in PNG only creates a conflict of interests among the citizens and doesn't give any value to our society at all. The foreigners flood in into PNG for business purposes and getting citizenship doesn't mean they have totally forgotten their culture and beliefs systems. The citizenship is just a paper of long term residency in PNG and it doesn't change their mindset or their way of thinking. Every country have their own culture and belief systems and people behave accordingly based on what they believe. Just think about ourselves, how majority of us influenced by our cultures and beliefs systems in PNG. Most decision we made only reflect how our culture and beliefs shaped our mind. We make decisions in consideration with our beliefs. The same rules applies to foreign nationals. When we give them mandate, they may have conflicting loyalties or interests that could compromise their ability to make decisions in the best interests of our country. This is because they are not part of our culture, they don't share the same beliefs systems with us or we are not part of the same cultural group. The way they make decisions will not always suits the interests of our genuine citizens and that's the problem. Giving mandate to foreign nationals become a norm in PNG and EHP especially have been leading in that. EH have been continuously giving political power to many foreigners who have no intention to become politicians and rescue the Province from the poor basic development services. Let's stop now!
