The name RED66 came from the strong color red and our founder Rebecca Dutcher’s fiery red hair (we could've gone with ginger, but it isn’t the same). 66 comes from her first jersey number when, at 8 years old, she was the only girl in her pee-wee football league. “When did you get comfortable in front of people, presenting and selling?” 🤔💭 “I guess it comes naturally.” Except that, what “comes naturally” is a survival skill. - 3y.o. ran away to sell chewing gums at a farmers market (earned me a few rounds of spanking, but the firsts are never a success, anyways); - 5 y.o. was making and selling knitted bracelets in front of the neighbourhood; - 6/7 y.o. was sneaking into my mom’s boutique to convince people to buy clothes; - 14 y.o. was posting ads on street lights and started tutoring for pocket money; - teenager was animating kids at their birthday parties, in the malls and street; - 18 y.o. was distributing flyers in the street and then from home to home; - 19 y.o. travelled to Slovenia to represent a company at the fair; - 20 y.o was at a mall stand, doing promotions… … and it continued. I grew up in wars, inflations and under sanctions, and my parents were working really hard to ensure that we have food, and that I get a good education. It was mostly month-to-month life. All I wanted was to contribute in any small way I could, so that they could work less and that we could be together more often. To be honest, while it may be a story of resilience, it is also a story of how the lessons we teach to our children are not those that we speak, but the ones we do, in many contexts. #founderstories #behindthescenes #introspection
