Merril Hoge The day Chuck Noll stopped a play and asked me what I was doing-- would give me new perspective of what I was doing with my craft and for my team! When he blew the whistle and stopped the play, John Stallworth was running down the sideline from a pass Bubby Brister had thrown. John was on the other side of the field from where I was. My response to that question Chuck Noll had asked was, "Nothing." He then proceeded to point out all the things I could have been doing to help that play and the team versus just standing there doing nothing! If I could rewind all the way back to the huddle before we left, and you asked me are you doing your part, for the team and in your profession, I would have said yes with 100% conviction. I was always prepared. I always played hard. Well on that day my eyes were opened to more that I could and should be doing on every play for my team and my craft. I took that challenge on that day and made it a part of my craft. It took me from being on a team to a starter for nearly a decade! Be uncommon! Is there more you can and should be doing for your craft and your team? Don’t be common, that is the easy way. Be uncommon, its more rewarding! Being uncommon will separate you from everyone else that is common. Do the maximum, not the minimum. We are in the final stretch! I won't bore you with my efforts, I would feel bad about lying to you all about how hard I am working on my Jack Henry presentations as if you have ever seen me present you can tell I am a 'just in time' delivery type of speaker. 😂 🤣 So I have talked about sessions I want to attend, and I have talked about the events I plan to attend but I have yet to talk about the third leg of the conference stool ... the tech expo. The number of vendors attending is staggering, and there are many I have never interacted with that I am looking forward to meeting for the first time. Below is the list of existing vendors I have on my must visit bingo card (even if a few have some weak trinkets and trash options ... you know who you are) so in no particular order: Libum - booth 836 - this team made a hell of an impact at CU Build this year and I am intrigued to see how they have extended their solution with the feedback they received from the build teams. RAZR - booth 1003 - not only am I interested in their session that will broach the concept of an Enterprise Rewards/Loyalty platform but also a chance to gab with people in the booth about how CU's have been leveraging them. Reseda Group - booth 1227 - I started my vendor journey as a CUSO employee, which makes me extremely aware of the amazing impact these types of companies can make in the tech stack of credit unions. The Eril Consult - booth 1204 - "If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles" .. Accounting is a development enemy of mine, I have never been as strong in this area as I should be so it makes sense to find smart people to interact with. Stickley on Security - booth 233 - Monkey show or no , its never a bad spend of my time to check in with Jim and find out what the current fraud and security trends are. Sycorr - booth1033 - learning more about auditing tools for permissions feels like a solid topic with a drink in my hand during the tech reception. Xpress Data Inc. - booth 1013 - sure I need to steal a few bags of that damn chili spice, but talking to people who understand how our clients are leveraging mailing/forms just makes a smart spend of my time. #jhConnect #jackhenry #creditunions
