Another battleground emerges in the Sudan conflict, extending its grip East-of and into Wad Madani, within Al Jazirah State. A State that has been refuge to nearly 500,000 conflict displaced Sudanese and over 2,900 secondarily displaced refugees since fighting first started on April 15, 2023. The pervasive sense of panic and the looming specter of displacement we witnessed then resurface, prompting people to seek solace on social media. Here, desperate pleas echo for guidance on escape routes from the escalating danger, appeals for hosts to shelter vulnerable families, and urgent calls for financial aid and fuel to embark on yet another journey of displacement, towards safety in a country besieged by threats. As this crisis fails to receive public attention, which more often than not will mean that it will also fail to receive adequate funding, the delivery of humanitarian support to those most in need is affected. Underreported crises like #Sudan, which is also an emergency within an emergency, are less likely to receive necessary support even as the situation remains tense. #KeepEyesOnSudan

The ongoing war in Sudan has been raging on for over a year, resulting in one of the world’s largest displacement crises : over 8 million people have been displaced inside the country and another 2 million have sought shelters in neighboring countries. The international humanitarian response is struggling to meet the massive needs. Security concerns, bureaucratic impediments, deliberate attacks on health facilities all make the provision of care incredibly difficult. In many of the places we work, we are the only organization on the ground, and that's simply not enough! #TalkAboutSudan and ACT! ➡Watch MSF International President, Christos Christou, shed light on the current situation in Sudan in this open letter. ➡More content on the harrowing and underreported crisis in Sudan: follow that link: https://bit.ly/3W785WU .

The Is*rael*i occupation continues its almost daily shelling of the border villages in southern #Lebanon, targeting civilians, their homes, and causing substantial damage. These attacks have led to the deaths of civilians, including #children and the elderly, prompting tens of thousands from the border villages to flee to safer areas. The United Nations Development Programme, in a report issued on December 13th, highlighted the high economic cost of the Gaza war on Lebanon, #egypt, and #jordan, estimated at $10 billion this year, pushing over 230,000 individuals into poverty. This comes at a time when Lebanon is experiencing one of the world's three worst economic and financial crises since the mid-19th century.

🔴 In #Sudan, more than 12,000 people have officially been killed by the violence — but fatalities are believed to be underreported and the death toll could rise far higher from hunger, disease and a lack of basic services. The humanitarian situation is dire, with families struggling to survive and meet their basic needs. Despite the extreme insecurity, Islamic Relief has provided humanitarian aid to over 559,000 people since the conflict began, including food and livelihoods support to over 460,000 people and health and nutrition support to over 67,000. Please continue to support our life-saving work in Sudan. 🤲🏼 iruk.co/sudan

Transparency International mourns the death of Ghassan Gharib Zahran, the 13 year old son of Salam Zahran, our colleague from our Palestine chapter, the AMAN Coalition (TI Palestine). Ghassan was shot and killed on Tuesday by Israeli forces close to his village, Deir Abu Mishal, near Ramallah in the West Bank of Palestine. We extend our deepest condolences and sympathies to Salam Zahran, AMAN’s team member for 16 years, and her family. We wish them strength and comfort during this time of profound sorrow. The killing took place amidst escalating violence in the West Bank area, with a sharp increase in recent weeks in Israeli military operations and demolition works, tearing down essential infrastructure. Ghassan is one of more than 15,000 children killed in the West Bank and Gaza since 7 October 2023. Over 38,000 Palestinians have been killed during this period, while many of the survivors endure terrible humanitarian conditions, such as lack of basic shelter, food and water. Transparency International calls for an immediate ceasefire and urgent, meaningful steps toward durable peace. Borders must also be opened to enable extensive humanitarian aid to reach those in desperate need. http://anticorru.pt/338

#Sudan🇸🇩 has seen violent conflict across many parts of the country for over 100 days, killing hundreds, including civilians, wounding over 5,100, and sending hundreds of thousands fleeing their homes and the country. While talks in Jeddah tentatively move ahead, the need for a more inclusive process (and outcome) remains paramount to meet the aspirations of the #Sudanese people. Our latest research shows that understanding the underlying obstacles 🚧 to a peaceful & #inclusive political transition process in Sudan🇸🇩 is key 🔑 for civilian actors to strategise effectively.
