From Restless High-Performer to Fulfilling Leader: My Unexpected Journey #UnlimitYourLife #TheUnlimited For 15 years, I was the ultimate high achiever. I crushed goals, mastered roles... then got bored. Six organizations in, the cycle continued – a constant chase for the next challenge. Taking a Leap: In May 2021, I decided to break free from my comfort zone (engineering) and dive into IT. A year later, I explored a new industry – insurance. This is where things got interesting (think "The Apprentice" in the most beautiful 5-star hotel on the Midland Farms!). The Unexpected Twist: February 2022, a recruiter drops a CTO opportunity in my lap. Fast forward (Within 1 month) – interviews with HR, directors, and IT heads. Next thing I know, I'm at Brahman Hills Hotel, participating in a life-changing recruitment workshop. The Transformation: November 2022, I attended transformative workshops that are like extreme shock therapy. This is when everything clicked. "The Unlimited" didn't just push me professionally; it pushed me to look inward. It helped me realize my full potential – the potential I'd been searching for in external challenges all along. A New Chapter: Fifteen years of chasing inspiration ended with a revelation: it was within me all along. Now, I lead with purpose, not for the next challenge, but to unleash my inner excellence and share it with the world. An opportunity to empower others. We’re doing lots of hiring at Zenlytic right now. So let me break from the usual data-nerd stuff to share how I hire people. (even though it is still kind of data-driven) This is my typical hiring scorecard—something I use to evaluate all candidates we interview for Zenlytic. It gives us a good idea of if the person will be a good fit or not. It covers: → Abundance mindset (their willingness to learn from their mistakes) → Fire in the belly (the power to actually go do it) → Experience (although not super important) → How data-driven the candidate is → If they’re high agency or not Feel free to steal this, and let me know what you’d add!

Listening to the stories of my fellow employees, I thought my journey was rather unremarkable... I voiced this to my husband. He stared at me in disbelief, and I suggest I take some time and reflect on the last 16.5 years. I am the 228th person that was employed by The Unlimited; back then it was Premier Growth Group. Condemned as a failure because I did not complete my university degree; not because of intellectual inability, rather a lack of discipline and a dose of ungratefulness for the opportunity gifted to me. Employed in a position regarded by society as one of the lowest levels of employment, call centre agent. I started on 29 July 2017 and by 08h30 I phoned my husband and told him I need to start sending out my CV again because these people are crazy. War cries (The Juice) before you start your day was too much for me... I went on the transformational workshops with resistance, resisted the learnings, however, I decided to stay, because it pays the bills. But I believed I will not adapt to this weirdness. I became the worst thing a person can be.... COMFORTABLE. Somewhere, along the next 2 years, I unknowingly started adapting to the weirdness of The Unlimited. My language changed, my way of thinking changed, my beliefs about myself changed. Along the road there were small, noticeable wins, and I became the best customer care agent at the time. Because of my knowledge I was chosen to help in claims. This was the initial turning point. Since September 2015, my career path had only one direction; straight to claims. Within a couple of months I moved to claims, however, it was not my time and I moved back to customer care, my dreams crushed. Initially I gave up and became an average agent and I resented the situation. People, younger and newer to the business got promoted to positions I believed I deserved. Leadership in claims changed and with that a second chance was born. It was much harder the second time because I had to rebuild the damaged relationships and forge new ones. I spent every free moment in claims, learning and helping others to succeed in my dream department. I kept on knocking, even through lockdown. By December 2020 I lost all hope that I’ll ever be accepted in my dream job, I resigned without a back up plan. I was contacted and offered an interview for temp claims assessor position for 3 months.  Hard work and dedication earned me a permanent position as claims administrator. Instead of being thankful, I felt entitled and believed my title must be claims assessor because of my history. I had my dream job; however, I was miserable.  When the business rolled out the trail partnership with IUA, I decided to step up and shine (BE, DO, HAVE). My leadership asked me to trust them and shine more. Today, I am shining, assessing claims and duplicating my knowledge with a confidence I never knew I possess. 16 years later, I own my future, my position in claims and I ROCK MY UNLIMITED WEIRDNESS. #UnlimitedYourLife #TheUnlimited
