It’s Opening Day of The Great NYS Fair! 🎡Local PR pros know what that means… If your news isn’t Fair-related, don’t bother pitching it for the next 2 weeks 😆 With our team’s focus on CNY, we typically advise our clients to have low expectations during this time for media coverage of anything happening outside of The Fair. But if your organization IS doing something at The Fair, that’s another story! 🎥🎤📺📰 We’re excited for the fair-related stories we’re pitching to local media while reporters and our clients are on-site at the Fairgrounds. And for our clients who aren’t doing anything at The Fair this year, we’re in fall planning mode! This also means some of our team will get to spend time working on-site at The Fair over the next two weeks 😉 Gotta love those work perks! I have been fortunate enough to be able to be part of the A&T fair with Acrow - and the mix between innovation, business, learning and mentorship has been phenomenal, with students and businessmen alike visiting the fair. But something wonderful (and perhaps odd) occurred today. On the last day of the fair an elderly gentleman stopped by our stand. He was retired - an old engineer that was simply seeking some entertainment and enlightenment. He wanted to see some of the new innovations and ideas up front, so he came to the fair. It got me thinking. This older generation still has so much to offer - so much vitality to experience. What would happen if we bussed in some healthy retired individuals (from retirement homes etc) to experience these fairs - to take part in the discussions, conversations and experiences, in the same way we bussed in students for this? Some may argue that it wouldn't serve the fair - wouldn't serve BUSINESS. But business, and the products we create and distrubute - the services we provide, are always about connection - convenience - usefulness. So why not remind the older generation of their "usefulness" as we connect them to new ideas. This is simply a thought/observation. Drop your opinion/thoughts on this in the comments below.
