We’re at the 2024 ALGA National General Assembly exhibition in Canberra this week with Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) and ATCO Australia! Stop by and say hello 👋 Delivered by the Australian Local Government Association, the annual event provides an opportunity for local governments to engage with the Federal Government to develop national policy, and to influence the future direction of councils and communities alike. We’re pleased to have the opportunity to raise awareness of our important role in delivering the gas and electricity Australian households and businesses need each day, as well as highlight how we’re investing in renewable gas projects which we think can play a leading role in our future energy mix.

the #energytransition is critical to #Scotland #England & #Wales to create jobs, to transition from fossil fuels to renewables, to encourage #renewableenergy technologies and manufacturing in #GB and without #transmission and major upgrades to the #grid it will not happen. #publicconsultation is important so that all #stakeholders can be aware of what is proposed and how it may affect them but also how strategically it will benefit the nation, its energy security and the costs of energy to households and business. in order to target the grid upgrades by 2030 there is no time to lose and so it is imperative to take part in this consultation by SSEN Transmission linked below. We all have a role to play to take this important project forward while establishing as early as possible the best way to deliver it while balancing its impacts and benefits.

1.56 GW is a huge capacity for Estonia. Should be able to produce around 3/4 of current national electricity demand (8 TWh)! But there are interconnectors as well, of course.
The winner of the auction for the 1.5 GW Saare 2.1 offshore wind site in Estonia was announced last week: Norway's Deep Wind Offshore. Congrats! Oh dear! Another blow for Norway's 1.5GW Sørlige Nordsjø offshore wind tender as EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG has said its subsidiary Norseman Wind AS won't bid due to problems with the regulatory regime. The company was named as one of five pre-qualified bidders last month, but has now said it will not bid in the tender on 18th March because of concerns about the need to build and own the high-voltage interconnector; and limits on state support. This echoes concerns voiced by fellow pre-qualified bidder Shell last month. The silver lining is this indicates EnBW is showing cost discipline in its bids, and ruling out those where it doesn't feel it can make the numbers work. The firm also said it is still committed to the Norwegian market. But we can't ignore the fact that this silver lining comes with a massive cloud. This means the number of engaged pre-qualified bidders in this tender now potentially stands at just three (if we assume Shell won't be bidding), which is looking a little threadbare. We announced those pre-qualified bidders here on 16th February: https://lnkd.in/eVWJwjde There may be more twists and turns here before final bids are even submitted.
