Everyone likes to talk about best practices. I went the other way around and gathered all the worst practices on how to build the worst Event Sourcing system. Was it easy? It was not, as building the worst Event Sourcing system, we cannot cheat and just go with Event Streaming rebranding the name. What to do next? Check the recording of my talk at #NDCLondon where I told the story of the project Franz: the worst Event Sourcing system. https://lnkd.in/dg3xK_8P Jokes aside. Event Sourcing is perceived as a complex pattern that’s challenging to learn. In fact, it's pretty simple, but the common misconception and the way it's taught may lead to such a conclusion. By going through the worst ideas, I wanted to show the essence of Event Sourcing. p.s. that was probably the hardest talk I gave so far from the presenting technique. The narrative has a few twists, so feedback is more than welcomed!

We interviewed Evan Shapīro at IBC - International Broadcasting Convention. This is what he had to say: “You need to keep those big tech ‘collaborgators’ 🐊 at arm’s distance but at the same time you have no choice but to also work with them.” In this interview at #IBC2023, Evan Shapiro explains the dynamic interplay within the media industry. 🔗 It is all about interconnectedness and interdependence: as much as the big media giants dominate the market, they can’t survive without local public broadcasters. Evan says public service broadcasters should not fear tech giants like #Apple or #Amazon. Instead, they must realise the value they offer to the ecosystem and take advantage of collaborating 🤝 with them. Because without their contributions the very ‘collaborgators’ are doomed to fail. 👇🏼 Watch the full interview below 👇🏼 https://hubs.la/Q024hQzk0

“A total of 165 applications seeking over €18.8m in funding were submitted for consideration under Round 51 of the Sound & Vision 4 scheme, with just over €7.9m in funding awarded.” My takeaway….. So 10m extra was sought and not got. I bet A lot of indies disappointed, maybe feeling foolish (and certainly well out of pocket) having spent development time, perhaps hired freelance editorial expertise, PM for detailed budgeting/notes, time and effort gaining access to or setting up partnerships/securing on screen or behind screen talent, getting third party endorsements; or whatever was core in an effort to win funding. From my time on the SPI board, I have always recommended that the supporting broadcasters should shoulder the development costs as it would focus their applications. Its totally out of order to have the indies being ‘busy fools’ & spending money they probably don’t have to have projects ‘production ready’’ in a stressed downturned tv market where resources are scarce. Couldn’t see the broadcasters doing that, so why expect the indies to ? Each new round on the other hand has more and more projects being submitted backed by the broadcasters, with I presume more and more work done by each application, in an effort to win funding. There’s got to be a better way. *Full disclosure- we have been funded in the past many times and also to our dismay been turned down for what we thought were fantastic projects with lots of work done, including this round. Doesn’t change the point on development. I’ll put my tin hat on for incoming!!
📢 We’re pleased to announce we have awarded €8.6m of funding for broadcasters and independent producers under the Sound & Vision Scheme. 🔎 For more information: https://lnkd.in/esUN7xPz
