Today, on International #DravetAwarenessDay, we are supporting charities, families and organizations around the world in raising awareness of #DravetSyndrome (DS). DS is a rare, severe and lifelong form of epilepsy that usually begins in the first year of life and leads to some level of developmental disability and dependency on caregivers. Isabella Brambilla, Chairperson of Dravet Italia Onlus, discusses the broader impact of DS on family life, drawing on her own experience caring for her son, who lives with the condition. Your local Dravet Syndrome foundation, such as Dravet Italia Onlus, is a great place to go to access resources for those living with DS, or visit the Dravet Syndrome Foundation.

Love-based support is essential for each of us, from the first steps to the whole journey through life. Especially, during challenges or difficult times that come into our lives sometimes gradually and sometimes rapidly. As a mother of four children myself, I can confirm that isolation is real. As parents or caregivers, I believe that we should teach our children as early as possible that emotions are real. Thus, they will be able to identify and express their feelings and ask for support as needed. Would love to see more curricula centered on parenting, communication, leadership, emotions, etc. which all could be linked to history, science, math, or language classes. What are your thoughts or comments?
"No one tells you about the loneliness" – Jocelyn, Carya Participant Parenting can often feel isolating. Carya offers a wide range of programs for parents of young children to promote bonding, connection and family functioning, equipping parents and caregivers with the knowledge and techniques needed for a strong start. All donations made before August 31st are eligible to be matched up to 50% through Rogers Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink. Your contribution will help provide barrier-free early childhood parenting programs, giving children and their families the best start in life. Visit https://lnkd.in/e5Ced2P5 and donate today! In both my professional role as a therapist and as a human being, I have witnessed - and personally felt - the effects of losing loved ones to suicide. The stigma around this topic is unnecessary and prevents people from getting help. On top of the stigma, there is a taboo in talking about suicide. Everyone deserves to get help, talk about their challenges, and find support in desperate times. September is Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month. I am joining my company, Courage to Connect, for the Chicagoland walk to raise awareness, resources, and funding for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. My fundraising goal is $150 -- any amount would be greatly appreciated. All funds go directly to the AFSP, and contribute to training, research, and advocacy programs. Help me make suicide prevention more accessible to all people by donating! If you can't donate, please share this fundraiser across your pages so others can see it! Together we can #stopsuicide ***If you are struggling with suicidal thoughts or feelings, reach out to the 24/7 text/phone line, 988. You can either text or call 988 at any time to speak to a trained specialist. It's never wrong to get help - in fact, it is brave and beautiful! No one should have to deal with those thoughts or feelings alone. Stay strong, hang in there. The best is surely yet to come.
Please support the Chicagoland Walk this fall to help #stopsuicide

When survivors turn to us for shelter and support, they trust us to help them on their journey to safety and independence. The level of wrap-around care we provide to folks and families during some of their most vulnerable life moments would not be possible without the trust and generosity from our donors and community allies. $25 per month can help one survivor take the first steps toward an abuse-free life. $50 per month can help provide outreach counselling to one survivor. $100 per month can help keep our 24-hour crisis line running for one month. $250 per month can help provide a mom and their child with transitional support. Each and every gift is a gift of hope, support, and choices at Gillian’s Place. #monthlyally #donate #waystogive #breakthecycle #makeyourimpact #grateful #community #support #gbv #endgbv #getinvolved

We know the holidays can be tough for both kids who have been abused and their caretakers. We hope the tips we share throughout December to help kids recovering from trauma and those who love them, will help everyone Rise to Thrive this holiday season. Here are the first two tips for creating a safe and nurturing environment during the holidays: 1. Set boundaries: Ensure that holiday gatherings are free from triggers or reminders of the abuse. Create a safe space where the child feels comfortable and protected. 2. Provide stability: Establish consistent routines and traditions to give the child a sense of stability and predictability during the holiday season. Remember, creating a safe and nurturing environment requires empathy, patience, and understanding. Make a donation individually or with your department, company or team, to become a Friend to the Children’s Justice Center of Salt Lake County. Together, we can support children on their healing journey and watch them Rise to Thrive! Thanks to our tagged sponsors for all you do to help us succeed! . . #childabuseawareness ##donationsneeded #risetothrive #donations #saltlakecountyda #saltlakecounty #traumarecovery #holidaytips #parentingtips #utahparents #utahfamilies #holidaydonations #childabusesurvivor #holidaytipsformoms #holidaytipsandtricks
