https://lnkd.in/dUxv2R4w I really think he should tell us what he is smoking. The costs are escalating out of control and the insult to our intelligence is only surpassed by the arrogance to consider us the consumers idiots. First the for-profit hospitals run profitable operations as they must show a return on investment to their shareholders. Second, they even provide ore charity care than their none profit colleges. The nonprofits are generating loses year after year and there is a very simple reason it is their executive compensation.

Our hospitals care for individuals without insurance and cover the shortfalls in reimbursement for Medicaid patients. These hospitals educate health professionals, conduct life-saving medical research and develop innovative medical technologies. We work closely with community partners to identify critical health needs, ranging from opiate addiction to mental health care, and address them together. Fact: Since 2014, when Ohio expanded Medicaid eligibility, Franklin County hospitals have seen an 85% increase in total uncompensated care. Total uncompensated care is the sum of free care provided to the uninsured and shortfalls in reimbursement from the Medicaid program. Delaware's Healthcare Transparency Alert! Did you know? In the past five fiscal years, Delaware’s two major non-profit hospitals—Christiana Hospital and Bayhealth have reported a combined net income of nearly $1.4 billion! Despite these substantial earnings, there’s ongoing resistance and public concern regarding the new bill #HB350 sponsored by Valerie Longhurst. Why does this matter? #HB350 aims to enhance healthcare transparency and fairness, which could be a game-changer for patient care and pricing in our state. Yet, it appears there’s a narrative that paints a different financial picture. As we navigate this debate, it's crucial to ask: - How are these earnings being used to benefit patient care? - Why is there opposition to increased transparency in healthcare? Let’s demand clarity and accountability. #HealthcareTransparency #HB350 #DelawareHealth #UnitedTV #UmAcoLive #HealthNews

Communications & Marketing Leader | Amplifying Impactful Narratives | Driving Outcomes | Fueling Demand Generation [20.7K micro-influencers]
This article, written by Dave Pearson, highlights the recent launch of a website by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) focused on explaining the fundamentals of value-based care. This user-friendly website, named the Value-Based Care Spotlight, is designed to educate both healthcare consumers and professionals. Under the direction of CMS Innovation Center Director Liz Fowler, the platform's goal is to improve comprehension of value-based care as a key element in the transformation of healthcare. Value-based care, as explained on the site, involves collaboration among doctors and healthcare providers to oversee an individual's overall health, taking into account their personal health objectives. The term "value" in value-based care refers to what an individual values the most in terms of their health. The website features real-life stories, including those of individuals like Lamont Mitchell from Washington, D.C., who successfully aligned his diabetes management with broader health goals, and Letisha Wadsworth from Brooklyn, N.Y., currently undergoing home dialysis therapy. This initiative aligns with CMS's previous announcement, made 13 months prior, outlining its intention to have all Medicare beneficiaries and a majority of Medicaid beneficiaries enrolled in accountable care organizations by 2030.
