𝗡𝗘𝗢𝗠 𝗧𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗛𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝟮𝟱% 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝘆 𝗙𝗖𝗖 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘂𝗺 In an impressive display of engineering prowess and international collaboration, the #FCC Consortium has announced a key milestone in the construction of a significant tunnel within Saudi Arabia's futuristic #NEOM project. The consortium, which includes FCC Construcción, #China State Construction Engineering Corporation, and Shibh Al Jazira Contracting Company, reports that 25% of the 8.7-km #tunnel has been completed. This tunnel forms a critical part of 'The #Spine'—an #infrastructure corridor designed to support high-speed and freight rail services that connect different sectors of NEOM, including the innovative regions of #TheLine and the #Oxagon area. This phase of #construction showcases not only the scale of the project but also the complexity involved in creating one of the world's largest transportation and utility infrastructures. With a workforce of 3,655 people from 39 different nationalities, and drilling at a rate of 1.2 km per month, the project exemplifies global cooperation and dedication. The tunnel project is significant for the region, promising enhanced connectivity and pioneering the use of sustainable materials. Excavated rock is being repurposed for use within the concrete lining of the tunnels, highlighting the project’s commitment to environmental sustainability. World's Longest and Deepest Subsea Road Tunnels. The world's most prolonged and most profound road tunnel construction is underway in western Norway. The E39 Rogfast project is a 27km long subsea road tunnel – the Boknafjord tunnel – between the municipalities of Randaberg and Bokn in Rogaland County. The tunnel, a strategic part of the development of the E39 West Coastal highway, will indeed be the world's longest and deepest subsea road tunnel with a maximum depth of 392 m below sea level. E39 Rogfast will be a twin-tube road tunnel crossing Boknafjorden and Kvitsøyfjorden north of Stavanger, replacing the current ferry over Boknafjorden. The twin tunnels will have a diameter of 10.5m and a maximum depth of 392m below sea level. The tunnel will have two lanes on each side, with passages at every 250m to provide accessible exits during emergencies. It will have six longitudinal ventilation shafts, which comprise three that will be used for fresh air and 3 for polluted air. The tunnel will feature a junction in the middle to provide road access to the island of Kvitsøy. The entry and exit ramps of the intersection will lead to two roundabouts above the tunnel ceiling. Developed by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA), the E39 Rogfast tunnel is the first project under the ferry-free E39 highway concept along Norway's west coast.
