A recent trend I have been watching is the growing importance of green architecture and sustainable design in the built environment. Both prioritize environmentally responsible building design in order to address climate change and resource depletion through passive design strategies, energy efficiency, water conservation, and sustainable materials.   One type of design I find particularly compelling is green roofs and living walls, which both involve growing vegetation on these surfaces. These types of roofs provide insulation, reduce stormwater runoff, and help mitigate the urban heat island effect. Living walls also help to improve air quality and provide insulation.   Incorporating this type of biophilic design when constructing green buildings helps to reduce carbon footprints and promote sustainability.
