Most of our pastors go into the ministry with a passion to serve God only to discover that our churches place such enormous expectations upon them that they are destined to fail. Because there is no clear job description, it is impossible to know if they are doing their job let alone if they are doing a good job. This confusion and lack of clarity predictably becomes the breeding ground for discontent among the church family as well as the pastor. #churchleadership #churchleaders #churchpastor #churchhealth #pastorappreciation #pastoralministry #pastoralpay #pastoralfinances #pastorsandconflict

According to my coaching cohorts, the relationships of churches in a cooperative parish will benefit from a commitment to a covenant, much like a marriage. The cooperative parish covenant would define the type of cooperative parish they are becoming and how they will administratively structure their churches and the cooperative parish. The covenant will also include how they will specifically cooperate in ministry, staffing, finances, facilities, and worship. The covenant will also outline the expectations and commitment each church has of one another as a part of the cooperative parish. The process is not easy, but it is holy, and I am blessed to be part of it as a witness and coach. Learn more about some of the challenges of forming a cooperative parish and get some resources in this week's blog post, 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵. https://lnkd.in/g-YBYcAa #cooperativeparish #kaykotan #covenantleadership

It's been almost 3 years since I left an 18 year career in pastoral ministry. The preferences of my congregants was a constant pressure. Will they like my preaching, the music, the programs, etc. enough to keep giving and support the church? In 2020 this was momentarily interrupted. Churches and church leaders were scrambling. How can we innovate, reach people at home, reach people who have never stepped into our building? But according to the latest trends, all that has changed. Churches are reverting back to 2019 conversations, and PREFERENCE is an even bigger issue. So what will we do? Check out the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/gxYfEm3H
