Yet again, Xoli Belgrave shared her wisdom, truth and passion with the audience at #PatientsEU2024 today! #withheart #patientsfirst
“What on earth is she doing in that picture?!” I hear you ask… You can be forgiven for thinking I’m doing a strange dance solo😂 What I am actually doing is far more fun than a solo dance. It was my privilege to present at Patients as Partners EU today. The focus was on strategies for closing gaps in clinical trial participation and addressing patient data gaps. In short it’s about minding our gaps in clinical research and healthcare in general. In the picture, I am negotiating a gap to board a train. It is inspired by my childhood in London where the underground train system had massive gaps between the train and the platform. The metaphorical train is innovative clinical treatment and the platform is where patients and their loved ones are. The gap is any factor that gets in the way of accessing clinical treatment. I managed to jump into my train. What happens to those who cannot? The beauty of Patients as Partners is that it creates a space where patients, industry, and all interested partners can LEARN and ACT together. Our collective aim is to ensure nobody is left on the platform (unless they choose to stay there). Mind the gap! #PatientsEU2024 #parexel #patientsfirst #withheart❤️

Thank you Lydia Morris, PhD for being a great co-collaborator on this deeper dive into the challenges and incredible innovations within the Alzheimer’s disease landscape. I’m proud to be a small part of this incredibly important work.
The pace of trial recruitment for Alzheimer's disease is lagging behind scientific advancements, especially in early-phase clinical trials. In this blog, Parexel experts Lydia Morris, PhD and Jakki James emphasize the importance of listening to and engaging with the concerns of prospective trial participants. They also propose innovative solutions to promote earlier diagnosis in diverse populations and identify suitable surrogates for Alzheimer's patients in high-burden early-phase clinical trials.
