We are thrilled to share our experience from today's panel discussion on supplier diversity, hosted in downtown Calgary by the Supplier Diversity Alliance of Canada (SDAC) 🌈🤝. Diversity in suppliers isn't just a checkbox; it's about creating an inclusive, supportive ecosystem that benefits everyone involved. Here's how Precipice has benefited from becoming a diverse supplier: 🌟 Access to safer, more supportive work environments through partnerships with corporations associated with Canada's 2SLGBTQI Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC), championing the 2SLGBTQAI community. 🌟 Feeling less alone in the entrepreneurial journey, thanks to a supportive and inclusive community, even if support comes from afar - there are resources and mentor opportunities galore! 🌟 Opportunities to meet and partner with other diverse suppliers, expanding our network and impact. Supplier diversity is more than a policy; it's a pathway to innovation, inclusivity, and creativity. Let's advocate for more inclusive business practices! #SupplierDiversity #InclusionMatters #BusinessForAll 🚀#differencemakesusstronger #leadershipdevelopment #leaders #traininganddevelopment

It was interesting to meet members of the new UK-EU Parliamentary Partnership Assembly in Westminster yesterday and discuss European Local Partnerships (twinning) or ELPs at city and community level. This was something which the Assembly has idenfied as an important way of engagement for the UK and EU. Following #brexit such local partnerships are one of the main ways of connecting UK local governments and communities with their partners in the EU, including in culture, sport, business and youth exchanges. In total there are some 1000 of such ELPs in the UK. In addition some larger authorities like #manchester and #kent are developing partnerships to encourage investment and tourism. There are also new partnerships designed to give support to cities in the #ukraine by providing them with practical support like generators and ambulances. I chair a UK wide working group bringing together local groups involved in partnerships designed to promote ELPs, exchange best practice and advocate for making exchanges easier, for example by having the UK rejoin the important #erasmusplus student and youth exchange scheme. Following a successful meeting in #Bath in October, we plan to expand our work in 2024.

Day 1 Reflections from #CBIE23 As the Day 1 of the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) | Bureau canadien de l’éducation internationale annual conference came to a close, we’re reflecting on some of the key topics that are top of mind for delegates. *Sustainability~ Where’s the beef? It’s not at the Vancouver Convention Centre~ at least not on Meatless Mondays, as they seek to encourage conference organizers and attendees to be more sustainable as they gather in large numbers. As well, the topic of sustainability was woven through many of the sessions, including one about THE’s Impact rankings, that indicated Canada as leading the pack in sustainabilty efforts. * Regulation of Agents~ yea or nay? This topic was debated during a #standingroomonly panel discussion moderated by Edified partner Oliver Fortescue. IDP Connect Canada’s Luna Das Bangia called for balance, suggesting that while procedures to ensure ethics needs to be in place for agents, institutions also need to have a hard look at their own processes as well to promote balance and equity, and to build trusted partnerships that place students first. * Innovative initiatives In addition to overarching themes and hot topics, the conference also offered space for leaders to highlight initiatives happening at their institutions and organizations. Gonzalo R. Bruce, Ph.D. presented about how Boise State University is collaborating with partners with the 100K Strong funding. Ukranian Catholic University Halyna-Protsyk spoke about the challenges for Ukrainian HEIs after emerging from the pandemic and being thrust into the full-scale war of the Russian Federation. Protsyk stated that priorities for 2024 include the modernization of systems, increased flexibilities and freedoms in academic choice, and improved internationalization. We’re looking forward to another engaging day in Vancouver as we’ll hear updates from Canada Immigration, IRCC, learn about EDI initiatives throughout Canada, and hear how stakeholders are supporting refugees. #intled #CBIE2023 #recap #conferences2023 Larissa Bezo (she/her/elle/вона) Melissa Payne

As the Business and Tourism Programme comes to an end, last week, one year on from the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, we reflected on what was a momentous programme for the region that delivered: - 2,600 jobs - Over 450 global events - 60 FDI projects and a thriving pipeline - Over 141 million visitors to the region - £17.2 million to the region’s economy. Although the benefits of the BATP are expected to be felt until 2027, the programme has already helped to deliver a record-breaking year for the West Midlands. To ensure fairness in the selection process, IRCC will randomly select potential sponsors from the 2020 pool of applicants who were not invited to apply in previous years. This approach aims to give everyone an equal chance of reuniting with their parents and grandparents. If you are among those not selected this year, don't lose hope. There are other options available to bring your loved ones to Canada. Read more about it in https://buff.ly/2X9wEUS #inmigration #torontoimmigrationconsultant

With an investment of £1.5 billion over 15 years, the UK and Scottish governments - along with regional stakeholders - are committed to enhancing transportation, housing, culture, skills, employability, and innovation across the region. This investment is benefiting more than 24% of Scotland's population, making it one of the most ambitious deals in the UK. Today we celebrate the five-year mark since the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal's signing. The Deal has helped employ 4,000 people and improved skills in 67,000. Strong progress has been made on delivering 3,500 new homes in Winchburgh, over 540 mid-market rent homes have been delivered by Edinburgh Living, nine new industrial units in Fife, with more on the way in the Scottish Borders. £3 million has been secured to enhance regional bus services, and over 700 small to medium-sized businesses have been supported across the region. Watch a short video highlighting some of the main achievements over the past five years - https://lnkd.in/dckHW7mg The Edinburgh & South East Scotland City Region Annual Report will be released in the following weeks.
